I would expect nothing less than samus.  She has also been around longer than every other character I believe.

Yeah, I think so, pretty sure most or all the other ones are from 90s or beyond.

Yeah, in Samus's case, she is most recognizable as "strong female hero" to gamers, and Tifa and Chun-Li both came from some of the most iconic games of the 90s, and are also very well-known.

It's cool that you had Blazblue characters. I think if I were to tally what genre has the most female representation, it would be between RPG and fighting games.
