(The Depths)

Dark Souls

On my last post, I was making my way through the dirty kitchen in the sewer level known as "The Depths" which leads to the next awful area known as "Blighttown". The worst part about the filthy kitchen/sewer is falling through trap doors to lower sewers and fighting enemies which cause curse status which halves your HP bar, which is hard to cure without items. Anyhow, I had to back track out of the sewers to the Parish to heal. I got a total Dragon Quest vibe from this, kind of awesome. You save/cure/heal party members in a Parish in Dragon Quest games.

The Depths & Blighttown

My second play through of The Depths went much easier, and the final boss is an awesome dragon. Totally metal! Not literally, but really awesome dragon fight, one of the best in games ever! Once killing this thing I made my way even lower through The Depths to a place called Blighttown, which is a dark hole of an area made up of poorly constructed wooden platforms and bridges that enemies like pushing you off of, snipers with toxic blow darts hiding in dark corners and ogres with poop smeared swords. This makes up the top part of Blighttown. The lower part of Blighttown is a giant swamp made of sewer water full of giant leeches and mosquitoes which are very annoying to fight- one of the more annoying areas of the game to say the least. The boss of this area is pretty awesome-  half-spider-half-human spitting lava and then I rang the second bell!

Sen's Fortress

(Sen's Fortress)

Yeah! This level is pretty awesome. It's full of death traps full of falling boulders and snake-men, coupled with giant swinging axes cutting across narrow bridges, totally Tomb Raider! I think this is the only time I played through the game where I actually felt like I was having fun, and not feeling terrified. The final boss here is very similar to a boss fight in Demon Souls, the Tower Knight. I actually killed it alone on my second try without really leveling up items. The Demon Souls walkthrough kind of helped. Now it's on to Anor Londo!

Other Stuff

Pikmin 3
I really want to play this on my WiiU, and being a Nintendo game means it will never go on sale, most likely so there is no point waiting for discounts. I hope it sells well. I’ve read mostly positive reviews for it.

Tales of Xillia
Another game I really want to play. But Pikmin 3 is also out so it’s hard to decide. The future price drop for these types of games makes me feel like waiting it out. Decisions...

Mario & Luigi Dream Team
Yet another game I really want to play. It’s been a while since the last Mario RPG game so deciding between this and Tales and Pikmin is tough!

Dragon’s Crown
This game looks so good. It being a brawler and not an RPG in the traditional sense kind of puts it off my radar, but looks so good.

This list can go on, the fact is that fall is upon us and so will a wave of new games and systems and decisions need to be made!!!

That second picture looks kind of like Gluttony from FullMetal Alchemist. That's a cool design.

Anor Londo... just wait until you get to the narrow walkway with those fucking Archers... I had more trouble with that part than any other in the game!

The story and lore of Quelaag and her sister Quelaan (The Fair Lady) is my favorite in the entire game. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'd highly recommend it!

You'll feel like the biggest dick in the world whenever you figure it out as well...

I've watched a few lore videos on Youtube. As if the game wasn't tragic enough, exploring the back story the game gets even darker. Sen's fortress was pretty fun though.

Man, that's a nasty looking Rat in that first screenshot!

Yeah! He's a nasty mini boss half way through the level. There are many many other rats too.
