What's your favorite weapon type to use in a game when you're offered different options?
Gun? Sword? Spear? Bow? Axe? Dagger? Whip? Etc.
Dragon, with a shark with dynamite strapped to it strapped to the dragon.
That reminded me of Armed & Dangerous on the original XBox and PC. They had a land shark gun. They also strapped dynamite to a sheep. "Death to the salad eaters!"
That sounds awesome! I was actually referencing a scene in Despicable Me 2, which I saw yesterday. lol I love that kind of silliness.

Chainsaw!
I am a weapons master, I use them all, sometimes at the same time. Honestly it depends on the game. In FFXII I liked using axes and poles. DQVIII I liked using spears with hero, axes with Yangus, Whips with Jessica, and Swords with Angelo. And if I am playing Soul Calibur I like getting my nunchuck on with Maxxi.
Bo Staff. I was always a fan of Donatello. Otherwise Shotguns, specifically the one from Marathon.
Like Gemini man said, there's not enough nunchucks in games.
Personally I prefer light sabers and shotguns
I like using bow and arrows mainly because I find it funny how such a small arrow can do so much dammage. Otherwise I will use a sword. Preferably larger than me.
I like Daggers and or Bows. I usually prefer the stealthy type lol
Depends on the game. Guns - Shotgun, or a gun that impales people, Swords or axe, and Chainsaw.
Yea, gun that impales people! Love that. Like the Stake Gun in Painkiller.
Sword and shield, and the sword has to be on fire
In RPGs: Axes
Anything else: Bows
Ranged weapons all the way. Bow & Dagger, Pistols & Shotguns.
Lightsaber. Always lightsaber.
Sniper rifle in shooters in rpgs the trusty sword hopefully a flame sword or the like ha ha!!
As far as shooting goes, I usually prefer snipers, something explosive like a rocket launcher or grenades, and/or shotguns for close range. For everything else, i'd be fine with a sword of any kind (traditional, katana, lightsaber). Oh, and if it counts as a weapon, the red shell from Mario Kart lol.

For mowing I use dual weilded uzis like you can do in Black. Ah, the flying shells are just glorious and the sound is amazing!
Tricky question. If we are considering more realistic weapons, for close quarters I would go with blades - especially Katanas, Rapiers and Daggers (Stealth Kill!).
Pistols and sniper rifles would be my picks for guns. Pistols are easy to carry and conceal, and depending on the model, a sizable ammo clip. A sniper rifle is useful to position yourself in the best spot of a shootout - far enough to be safe while eliminating targets.
For ultimate badassery though, nothing beats a Chainsaw Staff, or Paddlesaw if you will :)
Kind of depends on the game and my mood. Sometimes I go for the looong range stuff, like a sniper rifle, but for melee I'd pick twin swords. Oh, and they'd need names, like Judgment and Destruction 
The biggest, baddest gun offered that lets me kill and kill and kill with abandon!

A magnum pistol with infinite ammo
The Burner Magnum pistol in the game Urban Chaos: Riot Response was a favorite of mine, especially when you get a head shot because the sound was of a watermellon exploding. Hilarious and satisfying.
Two handed swords or katanas. After playing a Dark Knight on FF XI for so long, I also like a good scythe.
Also: if there's a great option for hand to hand, I'll take that too.
Sword and Shield for melee (preferibly the Master Sword and Hylian Shield), pistol or any gun for long range. But I prefer to get close and personal with my fists.
Fists are very very cool. I loved it in Hexen when powered up, your punches made every enemy explode into pieces.
It's not offered very much. Ok, not at all except in Turok 2, 3, and Rage Wars, but I'd choose the Cerebral Bore every time if it were in other games.
I really enjoy using bows/crossbows in games. We've been playing Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon a lot lately. The bow is our go-to weapon of choice when taking down outposts.
There's something solid about swords that just feels right to me. Or even dual wielding is cool.
