NEWSTED! After a breif stent with Voivod, Jason Newsted is running solo with his first album HEAVY METAL MUSIC. Heading up the vocals and of course the bass, Newsted makes a great mark on Metal. This album is more old school metal sound and less new school, but then again I would not expect anything less from him.

My final thoughts... If you enjoyed Jason in Metallica, Flotsom Jetsom, Voivod, then you will like this album..
So with that said I give Heavy Metal Music 5 \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ out of 5!
Now my METAL HEADS! GO FORTH AND METAL!
Didn't like the first couple songs, but the ones a bit further in remind me of a slightly heavier Corrosion of Conformity, and I like those.
For some reason, I always assocaiated Newsted with a more ambient style when he was left to his own devices. The solos here are more like what I expected, and I definitely like them. That little bass solo he had on "My Friend of Misery" was one of the better things on that album in my opinion.
Voivoid is better...
But this was stipll pretty decent.
Sorry but I think I like new Metal better. At least I'm learning the difference.
I'm glad to see Newstead is continuing onward after his departure from Metallica. I always liked him, he seemed like a cool guy!
I must get this album. Newsted is a superb musician and I've always liked his attitude and musical direction. He is a surprisingly good singer. So glad he is fired up and making awesome metal again. Hope to see them live at some point this year.
