That similarity to the Capcom DnD games is no coincidence. George Kamitani actually worked on both of them, so it's no surprise that Dragon's Crown bears similarities. Also, I love this game. Can't wait to play some more after completely finishing Pikmin 3.

Hello, everyone. Well everyone else has made one, I figured I might have a crack at talking about the awesome Dragon's Crown. I don't know what I can add that anyone else would have but here's what I've got out of a week-ish worth of playing:
-
- The artwork is amazing. Seriously, over look the few image on fan service and just enjoy some seriously good art. This is my first Vanallaware game, so I'm sure most people who have played Muruamasama or Princess Crown are used to this. But for me its increbible in motion. My favorite design so far is has been the Chimeria. Such a beastly and masive design.
- Don't play as the elf....unless you want a challenge. Seriously, I made the mistake of starting of as the elf and man did it make my job much more harder than it needs to be. It takes a long time and a lot of grinding to get her up to being decent.I know that it says that the elf is hard when you choose her but I ignored that because....well... I like elfs. Its not a very logical answer but its the truth. Plus this game reminds me of another action RPG, Champions of Norrath. I loved that game even though it took me a few years (!) to complete. I was a forest elf girl in that game and I just kind of saw a lot of that with the elf in DC. Kind of a dumb rationale with a hard character class but that too also describes me in many aspects.
- MONEY IS YOUR FRIEND. Seriously, I love/hate the monetary system in play here. Besides getting mad loot from battles like every other RPG, money is seriously a key player in your battles. From fixing your equipment, resurrecting fallen comrades both out of and in battle, and other stuff as well. Seriously having a budget is probably one of the best things to do.
- Online is fun but mixed to me. I love playing with other people but there are a lot of confusing things. There's no voice chat, cross play with vita, and you have to pay in game money to set up your room. The connection can be a bit of a bother too at times. But when its good, its so much fun.
- The amount of nods towards Capcom's DnD game and Capcom in general is crazy. Maybe its because I've played both games this year but Dragon's Crown seems like Katamai's love letter to Capcom. Hell, he even has a bunch of former Capcom artists for guest illsuratoins too. Bengus, Kinu Nishimura, and Akira Namahami are a few that I could pick out. If you are fully convinced to spend $50 on PS3 or $40 on PSV versions of Dragon's Crown, I encourage to you try Capcom's Dungeons and Dragons for $15. You'll definitely see where Katamani got his inspirations for Dragon's Crown.
That's it for now. If you need a good elf on your party....I'd search elsewhere. If you need a decent elf full of geeky knowledge about the origins of Dragon's Crown and the like, feel free to add me.
Later!
