Social life suffers as I work on my game!

I know I've been quiet guys. I'm really wrapped up in my game & dead set on getting it done. I simply want to prove I can contribute something. Having been on disability much of my life there have been many nights where I questioned my own worth and wondered if I could make anything of value. This is the "man's dilehma". We don't feel confident or secure in ourselves unless we're working hard on some kind of project. A man without a purpose or a goal is an empty & sad shell of his former self. Believe me, I know that from personal experience!

I hope you have enjoyed what you've played. The new "Gutterdelve Encrypted Black Edition" has an extended mobile tram level as well as music from Blake thrown in for good measure. (You're acknowledged in the credits mate so no worries!)

If you want to hold off and wait until the full game is finished I completely understand! However, I also wanted to let you all know progress is being made too! Aka, I'm not just sitting on my laurels expecting heaps of praise for an incomplete product. I want to see this through to the end. That is a fact!

Beyond that I've been playing Dynasty Warriors 8. It finally arrived yesterday and I am liking it. However, I think I prefer the soundtrack from DW 7 and DW8 has an annoying habit of randomly freezing. My 360 ran Warriors Orochi 3 and DW7 with nary a hiccup but even after the update playing DW8 is like playing Russian Roulette with my progression through the story mode. It sucks to have to re-do a whole mission just because the game decides to choke up at a cut scene or random event. Seriously Koei, I love you but please get your shit together. You have a good overall track record with me but DW 8's performance is sadly lacking. A shame too considering it's an otherwise great addition to the series.

Anyway, hope you all have been in good spirits and good health! Drop in and reply if you feel so inclined. Otherwise hopefully I'll catcha on the flip side!

Hey, when my laptop comes in, I might just be able to check it out. And I know what you mean about losing purpose, although I am pretty sure women have the same kind of drive. Even if you're a house-wife, which is a dwindling profession, you'd have a purpose. I know so because of how much I desperately want to be a house-husband that mooches off a hot, rich, European lady in exchange for consistent sexual favors.

But yeah, I'm getting a Master's in in small part so that I don't feel worthless living in my parents' house and not working, so I can understand where you're coming from.

You're right. I think humans cannot stand "being still" for too long. That and our society tends to look down on supposed "slackers". It's kinda sucky how even after HS we can still be manipulated by peer pressure & social expectations. lol.

hmmm, that's interesting about DW8.  I haven't heard of it crashing, only rave reviews.  Maybe try installing it?

I'm glad you're working on the game.  I hear you about projects.  They make my life sane.

It could be I simply have an older 360,Matt. That and most places did warn me it ran better on the PS3. But what could I do? I only have a 360 so that's what I got it for.

Glad your making progress and although i dont entirely know how you feel i can relate since i need a hip replacement and im limited to what i can do when im off work and when im at work im in pain big time but i cover it up so most dont know and i plan on getting the surgery but since im the sole provider of my family and i have insurance but since the surgery is so expensive my detectable out of pocket is quite high so for now im dealing with it the best i can, Didnt know that DW8 had issues since Nicole didnt say anything about problems cause i plan on getting it myself.

Could be my dated Xbox. I don't have an Elite model,Leer. It's just odd my 360 will play Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen just fine yet choke up a bit on DW8. I'm tempted to say it's the disc but these freezes & glitches don't always happen at the same time.

I feel ya about working pains. I had a job as a dish washer very shortly after I shattered my ankle and returned home from college. Toward the beginning of the day it would be okay but by the end my whole foot would be swollen and I'd be in excruciating pain. Not my fondest memories to be sure. lol.

I'd definitely play your game if I was more into PC gaming and had more time.  So I feel kind of guilty telling you that I have a new blog up.  I have been thinking about you lately, because I've been playing Dragon's Crown.

Glad you're enjoying Dragon's Crown! I would have bought it already myself if I had a PS3 or Vita.

Understood 100%,Tam! Games take time to play and "time" is something given out in limited supply to us all!

Hello Ben. Good to see you're staying active. And yeah you contribute to things in life. You have friends here who like to hear your out put on life and your game and stuff like that.  So keep active and check in once and awhile.

Speaking of new music from blake, I have a new song for you too! I shall send it soon. More sadness... I think you'll like this one.

Also, you are free to use my theme if you want. I probably won't end up using it in my vids.

When you say "Blake's theme" I picture you in a tight spandex wrestling costume striking a pose as you get into the ring. "THE THUNDER DOWN UNDER, Blake Cow-Tosser! Yeah, Americans are stupid. Forget what I said.

On the music front, looking forward to it,mang!

Coolies! It's great to know buds good at music because quite honestly, I have not one lyrical bone in my whole body!

How much of the game would you say is finished?

BrokenH

08/13/2013 at 08:23 PM

Around 45% to 50%. Aka, I wouldn't blame you if you simply waited to download it later when it's finished, daft.

Kinda feel ashamed I haven't played your demo. Then again, there's also the fact that i'm worried the demo might make my computer slower.

BrokenH

My pc has no problem running the demo but from experience I've learned pcs are very diversified from person to person.

I haven't finished the demo, but I am really enjoying your game Ben. I kinda don't want it to end. Maybe you should just make it go on for forever? I'm just messin with ya. Keep up the good work!

BrokenH

If it went on forever I'd never get a review. lol. Glad you're enjoying it though,Aaron. Let me know if any nasty bugs pop up!

I completely understand what you're saying. I've recently undertaken a side project and it's been eating me away as of lately. When I'm not with the family, I'm solely focusing on this endeavour of mine. Hell, I even dabble with it at work occasionally!

BrokenH

It's the "driving force",Chris! Maybe we all want to create something that will be around even after we're gone. I don't know why exactly but it's a pretty powerful human desire.

Ok, I come in here trying to think of a great reply but your title keeps making me think...

Broken's Social Scene Suffers.  Sorry, sometimes I just think funny things. Cool

I was going to post some Broken Social Scene here but I haven't been able to embed Youtube here for a while now. I always wind up with an image of Pixlbit instead of the video.

When I came up with "social life suffers" I was bemused by how ironic it was. In blunt honesty, I'm not that social to begin with even though I try my best to keep tabs on friends. lol.

Hey you are social enough on here. Always fun to talk to. I just saw your title and the paly on the band's name came to me. I found it humorous but then I'm easily amused

Glad you're making progress on your game. You have a very positive attitude toward the project and that always helps keep things going. I know what you mean about men needing a purpose and goals. I pity those who have none because our time on this earth is painfully brief. You have to make the most of each day to feel good about life. Otherwise it becomes like doing time.

It will be worth it in the end, Ben! Finishing the game I made a few years ago is one of my proudest accomplishments.

And I liked what I played last time so I look forward to the final build!

At least your able to not only create but show your work to others. I've yet to get off the ground in trying to publish my writings. Shows how far you can go with your situation. thumbs up to that!
