It's always enjoyable when you come to a town in a game, and a nice theme is playing. Towns are where you relax, stock up on supplies, talk to folks, and prepare before you head back out to adventure. Towns don't just appear in RPGs, however; they appear in all kinds of games. The beautiful themes accompanying these towns make them feel like you're right at home. Today I give you six town themes that you can listen to and help lighten your day. These songs are peaceful and enjoyable. I've chosen six of my favorite town themes. How about you? Which town themes stick out to you as being really amazing?

Outset Island from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker/Composed by Kenta Negata, Koji Kondo, Toru Minegishi, and Hajime Wakai

I've always enjoyed this song. It's so peaceful, and is perfect for Link's little home island of Outset. I love it how they were able to mix in the theme from Kokiri Village from Ocarina of Time; it's kind of just another version of that theme. Due to this, the theme sounds very Zelda-like, a good thing considering WW did not feel like a Zelda game as you started. Of course, WW is one of the best entries in the series, and the music propels it to that status.

Twoson from Earthbound/Composed by Keichi Suzuki

Earthbound is one of my favorite RPGs; guys, if you have a Wii U, get this game! The soundtrack is so great. My favorite theme is Twoson, the theme of the second town you visit on your grand adventure. It's so peaceful and soothing. I absolutely love the French horn and the guitars that anchor the song. The themes for Onett and Fourside are also highlights of the Earthbound soundtrack.

Kids Run Through the City Corner from Final Fantasy VI/Composed by Nobuo Uematsu

This is the most beautiful town theme I have ever heard. The guitar gently plays in the background as the flute plays the peaceful melody; then the strings come and bring in that soothing feel. Wow! What a masterpiece! The other town themes of FF6 are amazing too, but this one stands out due to its sheer beauty.

Traverse Town from Kingdom Hearts/Composed by Yoko Shimomura

Traverse Town is the main hub you'll be going back to again and again in KH. This theme is short but sweet. I love the sax! Once again, it's peaceful and chill. The melody is calm, never rising too high or moving too much, but it's enough to make the song interesting. This theme doesn't sound like a Disney theme at all, but that's okay, it's still great.

Town--Between the Azure Skies and Seas from Etrian Odyssey III/Composed by Yuzo Koshiro

I've never played any of the EO games, but I know they're pretty good. I've got this game's soundtrack, and this particular song stuck out to me; in fact, it's my favorite theme from the soundtrack. It's catchy and upbeat, something we usually don't hear in town themes, but it's great. The second half of the song calms down a bit before returning to the upbeat section. I say upbeat, but the song is still pretty peaceful (listen to the rest of the soundtrack!). This is classic Yuzo Koshiro.

My Village is Number One from Xenogears/Composed by Yasunori Mitsuda

It's so hard to choose one town theme from Mitsuda. His town themes are always amazing, whether they're from Chrono Trigger, Cross, Xenogears, or anything he does! But I eventually chose this one from Xenogears. Mitsuda has a definite style when doing his town themes; he likes to use exotic instruments, guitars, and that feeling of hominess. This one is a little different from his other town themes though, as this one is more exciting than the others. Listen to Chrono Cross, and you'll see that the town themes are very peaceful; this one is more upbeat and fun. Either way, Mitsuda always makes them work. Masterful job!

I was going to suggest "My Village Is Number One" but I got to the bottom and saw that you included it lol. Great selections. Props for giving the EO III soundtrack some love Laughing

Yeah, all the town themes from Chrono Cross are beautiful, but my village is number one is a little different, so I decided to use that one. EO3 has a great soundtrack; it's got that classic chip tune feel to it.

Even though I don't like Xenogears, that is a good town theme.  I'm partial to the town theme from Tales of Legendia, also.

You gotta love the Xenogears soundtrack, it's great. Never heard the town theme from Tales of Legendia, I'll have to check it out.

I preferred Kokiri Village to the WW opening theme, but it is a nice theme. My favorite of these was the KH one.

Outset has that Zelda-like theme to it. Traverse Town is very cool, love the sax. Thanks, Joe.
