This basically the gist.... I wen to buy Prinny Can I Really Be  The Hero? for the PSP. The clerk told me I had 96 days left on my card and did I want to renew. I said I am not really sure because I did not really like the GI anymore and the discount was not really helping. She asked me why I did not like GI, and I told her about the backwards rating for this months game of the month. She rolled her eyes and said oh well. After that I took my game and left. I know not all Gamestops have people like that bu tit is more about the corp thing for me now. If the game sucks ass say it. Do not say it is wonderful just to make that sale. That is it. I am out this BITCH!

I did enjoy the magazine but the reviews were a little...lot...slanted  favorably majority of the time

I wonder how many people put complete trust in GI?

The fact that they are owned by Gamestop is a rediculous conflict of interest. I take their reviews with a grain of salt. Their preveiws and other pieces are alright most of the time. But I usually check multple sources on reviews to get the big picture. As for the chick rolling her eyes, even for a slack jaw job like this if you work retail you should try and at least act a little bit professional.

I do the same or play the Demo. As for the employee, I am not really bothered by that, I've several years of girls rolling their eyes at me when I asked them out.lol.

My biggest gripe with GI is the tiny font and overly busy backgrounds that they put the font on. Yes, I am approaching middle age with break-neck speed, but I can't be the only person with this problem. And yeah, the reviews are horribly slanted. I used to like the trivia, but that's once in ablue moon now, and so is the classic section. Plus, I just don't shop there much anymore. There are much better small independent stores where I live that have a better selection of games for all systems, not just current gen, have nicer, more knowledgeable employees, have better prices for both sales and trade-ins. I think the last game I bought at GameStop was maybe in November? Had to have been thereabouts, because that would be when I last renewed my card...

I have Three stores like that now so I have more to choose from.

They don't need the money anyways.

I know I am not a blurp on their radar.  Some of the locations here have been down sizing their 360 and PS3 games also doing away with DS and PSP games.

They are probably preparing for the next-gen, those bastards.

Yeah, it is a pretty ludicrous conflict of interest. One I did not even realize before you brought it up recently.

I see it is market hype and steering the uneducated gamer into crap games.

Well, that was pretty unproffesional of her to do that. Never liked Gamestop. Seriously, the store is the size of a small bedroom; I think I find the game on my own, thank you!

I think she was offended by the fact I could form a opinion.

The second Prinny game is how I got to know about them. It's a funny one.

I think the little Doods are funny. I send mine out to die first in Digaea 3.

I like GI, but I'm a bit biased toward gaming mags.  I don't trust every review they write as truth, but I enjoy reading what they like and don't like about a game.

Don't be too hard on the GS lady.  Maybe she was tired and having a bad day at work.  They have no choice but to push those subscriptions and (if I understand you right) your argument for not liking the mag anymore was that you didn't like this month's game reviews.  Your reason for not wanting to renew your subscription is your own.  Can't argue with that.  But, from her point of view, you came across as a nerd raging customer.  Just saying. Laughing

I have a few friends that worked and still work for GS and they vent a lot of their experiences with customers to me.  They also vent about some of their competent lacking co-workers, so I totally understand why many people have problems with some GS employees.

Remember, most GS employees don't care too much in what they do there. Though there are some dedicated people there, there are some that just follow the corporate speak because that's what they are suppose to do. For me the discounts are not worth it for me. I just buy from them when they have a good deal going on that doesn't involve their memberships.

There are some that can be down right offensive. Especially if you say something about a system they are a Fan boy/girl for. I talked crap about the PS3 Move and one of the employees got rude as hell.lol. I said I am sorry but if I want to play a Wii I own one, why am I going to pay a $100 bucks to play it on the PS3. Oh she went off. Then the next time I went in there she gave me her card.lol.

in defense of GI,

I still read it and I enjoy getting the magazine in the mail. Call me oldschool. I also get EGM but they come in so seldom its frustrating.

One thing I have to say about GI, is considering its just supposd to be an over glorified GameStop flyer, they have quite a bit of enthusiest content that comes from the heart. They often have some kind of retro feature I really enjoy. Like a two page spread on Pifall or classic consoles. They don't HAVE to do this, it does nothing to make GameStop money, they do it for the love, and I can appreciate that.

As for the reviews, yeah, they ARE afterall an over glorified GameStop flyer. The high scores and immediate praise is apparant, but sometimes you can read between the lines and get the feel for how they REALLY feel about the game.

GI is good for interviews and features but they're reviews section is crap.
