What subjects are covered on the test? How long is it? Just curious, since it sounds pretty big if they give you a whole lunch break in between.
Hope you did well. :)

I was going to post this blog yesterday but due to distractions I didn't. Still, I felt like I wanted to mention it, so here we go.
I just had today the Colombian equivalent of the State Exams. After like one month of preparation, I just wanted the day to happen so I could just get over with it. Though it wasn't dramatic or anything like that, I had some pressure on doing the exam and though the exam isn't necessary to enter every university, I just wanted to see how am I doing study wise and I want to know if I did okay. I'm not expecting to get a great score, but atleast I don't want to get a low score, even if it doesn't affect anything in real life (except for entering some unis, like I said, and jobs, masters and doctorates outside Colombia). But, if that happens, I will try not to get affected by it.
Now, though I did had mild pressure, I was also a bit calmed in the first half and I had time to complete every question, but though I was like that on the second half, I also hurried up a bit, which may or may not affect the final outcome, but I did finished every question on time and when I left the classroom, I was relieved.
Now for something lighter and less personal:
The exam had two parts (one during the day and one in the afternoon) and a lunch break between the parts. On that time, I went outside the school I was taking the exam (the exams are done in schools that are close to where the person lives) and searched for someplace to eat. After that, I had a walk in a park and then discovered they were doing in another park closer to the one I were, the eliminatories for a Colombian music festival called Altavoz, and it was free to the public and had a bit of spare time, so I said "Why Not" and went there. That day they were doing the eliminatories of the category of Electronic and Alternative and heard three song from one of the Electronic participants. I still don't know the name of the band yet, but it was a trio of a vocalist/keyboard player, a drummer and whatever the name of the musician that does the sound effects. They had sort of a Depeche Mode, New Order and M83 vibe that was really cool and all the members had carnival masks and not only the vocalist was active during the presentation, but halfway through the third song, the vocalist turned its back and then had a Guy Fawkes/ V/ Anonymous mask (their lyrics were a bit political, but not much) and when he finished the song, he took it off. I wish I had stayed longer, but I had to continue the exam. Luckily, the concert was still on after I finished the exam, so before being picked up by my mom, I stayed there for a while. They were now on Alternative.
I managed to get there for the last presentation of a Nu-Metal band I still don't know the name of and then heard three great songs from a female fronted bands called Dosis. They said their objective was to break the molds and boy, can they. Their music isn't any complex, but it's hard to categorize them. Alternative could had been a good definitione if it wasn't that I felt that they had influences from Post-Rock, Sigur Ros, Shoegazing, Progressive Rock, Pink Floyd and even Deftones. I'll try to search more from them and I might post some of the songs here. They were really awesome.
So anyway, that's all. I felt like I wanted to let go my afterthoughts on the exam and also my small concert experience, and if you want, you're free to wish me good luck on my exam.
The test started at 7:40 a.m and ended at 6:20 p.m (I finished much earlier, around 5:20 p.m). The first half finished at 12:20 p.m (I finished at 11:30 a.m) and the second half started at 1:40 p.m.
The first half covered english, maths, humanity and language. The second half was about biology, physics, chemistry, philosophy and a theme we had to choose that we wanted to specialize (I chose humanity).
Yeah, it was a long day, but time came by very fast.
Thanks!
Sounds like the SAT or ACT's that my area went thru, not really required to go to college/university but useful if your going to those that do want them. I only took one of the two but I don't remember which, I'm too poor to be smart :(
The park setting reminds me of some of the ones I saw when I frequented NYC back in the day. I never stayed long enough though for the police kept keeping an eye on me. Can you find video of this Nu-Metal band you speak of? i'm curious to what exactly their music consists of.
