Peace Walker Raw!

I'm still playing Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker and as I mentioned in the previous blog, Peace Walker (PW) is kind of a mission based strategy game. You have missions to complete before you can advance forward in the game. You can not save your progress during the middle of a mission.

So once you start the mission you must finish it or loss all that you have earned during that playthrough. But most missions arent long so it really isn't a problem. During the missions you capture enemy soldiers and then you send them back to your Mother Base. Your Mother Base is just as it sounds. It is the center of all activity in the game.  It is where all your soldiers go to be assigned and where all your weapons and items are designed.

Assignments:

Hideo Kojima: Combat Unit

*all photos courtsey of GH*

Here is a screen shot of the assignment page in the game. On the left side of the screen is the soldiers names. Pick a name, I picked Hideo, and if you look on the right side of the screen you will see Hideo's strengths and weaksness'.  The higher the red is in the column the stronger his skills are for that unit.  You can see the first column to the right of Hideo is Combat.  He sux at combat.  According to the screen you should place him in R and D.  Medical or Intel.

However, it's my game so I placed him in Combat.

Hideo: Missionary Man

Yeah, I dressed him in Pink. Take that Hideo for choosing Keifer Sutherland!  In some side missions you can not use Snake as a chartacter, so I choose Hideo. But after the mission is over and if you do good....

You Level Up!

I'm gonna make a soldier out of you yet Hideo!

Through out the game you find items laying around. You find these items and send them to Motherbase and your soldiers or members make good use of them. such as developing a weapon or food and rations. All kinds of stuff. But if you do not have enough people in a certain unit, or the unit has not leveled up yet, then development gets stalled.

Halt.

I didn't have enough soldiers in the combat team/unit.  And this can hurt your playthrough. I did not have a Surface to air missle ready when I reached a certain Boss Battle. So I had to go recruit more members and place them in the combat unit until I had enough expierence and leveled up to level 22 before it would let them develope the weapon I needed.

That's where Hideo came in. I used him on some easy stealth missions to recruit soldiers.

Raw and Intense

this is the description of the Naked  fatigues that the team developed. It's the one Hideo is wearing.

So, there is a lot going on in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. I have quite a ways to go before I finish the game. Its a slow and stealthy process. And so far it is still keeping my interest.

But with Hideo in Pink Fatigues...who wouldn't be interested!

For what system? Peace Walker was supposed to be a multiplayer game. It would make the game easier, especially boss fights. It is one of my fav MGS games really, just those boss fights, oh dear god!!!Yell

This is the PS3 HD collection. And yeah, the reason I never finished the PSP version was because I could never get past the first Boss Battle in the arena. It was brutal going at it alone.  On the PS3 the controls are a lttle better so I am holding my own in the Boss Battles...but they are getting tougher and tougher.

Do you mean that giant tank thing with all the machine guns on all the sides?

Hahahah.. Im not sure. It was the very first one after the first two tank like battles. Heck I was constantly running around and ordering supply drops.  Then the supply drop would land on my head!

It might be  2 years of the Snake.  This game is slower going than most MGS games.

Not sure if I'd go for a game like this. I'm too use to the old way of Solid Snake where I just have to deal with Snake himself, not a sqaud of people to deck out accordinly for any given mission. Sounds like it could be fun but I'm not sure if it's for me. Too much of an old salt stealth/kill crazy player I guess.

Nsonic:  It is definitely different and slower going.  The CQC isnt as fluid and the strategy part does add to a more slower game.  I am Not happy with the Boss Battles at all! But it is Metal Gear and I love Metal Gear,,,hahahaha

When I get some more games out of the way, I'll have to get back on Metal Gear.  I have yet to play Peace Walker.

Give yourself plenty of free time and undivided attention for this game. It's pretty deep.
