2DS another gimmick from Nintendo to release you from your money.

Does any one remember this?

Yes. How did that work out? Sure I bought one for my wife at launch for $99 but she messed with it for about a week. Then I got here a DS and she played the crap out of the DS. Now the 3DS can have the 3D turned off by the parents... Any way do what you want just stop falling for the smokescreen.

Right what is the fucking point of a 2DS?

It is for non-gaming parents that do not know better.

It's actually aimed at kids around 7. No joke. That's why they bulked it up, made it hardier, removed the hinge and named it as such.

Yea, I see that. It's totally for kids at the age where the 3D can be harmfull to their eyes. Those kids also don't need the system to fold up. That thing's staying in their room or in a play area with their other toys.

2DS looks a lot like the early, pre-release DS designs to me. Or maybe I am saying that cause they're both ugly.

I actually might buy this. I can't see the 3D effects so I'm not effing paying for something I can't effing use! There are some 3DS games that I'd like to play, and now I can. And the price tag is smaller. I'm not seeing the downside here.

Pretty much my thoughts. 2DS is for a niche market and if you're not a part of that, it's fine. It's really to make every parent wary of 3D jump in time for Pokemon X/Y.

With that I understand your draw, but for others the 3D can be turned off. I am sorry I have an opinion some times. All I want is the JRPGS Nintendo promised in February, and not more Pokemon and Zelda rehashes.

Why be sorry you have an opinion? We all have 'em, nothing wrong with it and as long as we all debate in polite fashion, who cares? Now let me "squee" in peace over the prospect of a 2DS, lol.

I'm all for a cheaper version (would be nice if it wasn't ugly though), but I do wonder if it is just going to confuse the parents it's targeted at. Which one you want? The 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, or the inevitable 2DS Lite!

I have the 3DS. I got it at launch and love it The point is, why does NIntendo keep nickel and dimein people?

Imagine that monster of a device... If they want it kid friendly like all are claiming the device needs to be smaller Imo.

I found the news unexpected, but hey, as long as they don't discontinue the 3DS, i'm fine. It seems like you're currently having a cynical attidute towards Nintendo lately. Not saying it's a bad thing. Just an observation.

I have. It really has not been on purpose mind you. I am just sick of Nintendo not giving us something new and rehashing old ass games that are good games in their own time.

I did the same thing to for my wife. And pretty much what you explained with your wife's situation mirrored my own. Though I understand this system is meant for kids, I ask my "Little One" if she liked it. She cares for it as much as she does for the Wii U at the moment. she says she'll stick with her DS for the time being, new pokemon game or no.

I am sick of people not seeing the Forrest for the trees. How many times can one buy the same game? Wow, Poke a man really those games are played out as well, sure it sold the original gameboy, I am not denying that. My 5 year old Nephew is getting the 3DS for his birthday this month and his parents are turning off the 3D effect so it does not injure his eyes. If that is the only reason some people are not getting it, then they are the ones ripe for wallet picking by Nintendo.

It's really not all that bad IMO. I would put the systems in tiers, if you can affford get a 3ds xl. If you can't afford it, get a normal 3ds. If you can't afford that, or you just want to save money to buy more games, then get a 2ds. Does design really matter? In fact, I've been wanting to get a 3ds for a while and the general consensus is that the 3d isn't used that much. I also have a limited budget, so this would be good and I could get more games with it.

My wife is interested in getting one. She doesn't care for the 3D (heck, I rarely use it) and with a one-year-old son, the sturdier design might come in handy. Plus the price is much easier to swallow. It does have a better placement of the D-pad, I'll give it that, but I'm very happy with my XL.

It's a strategy Nintendo has used before and they'll clean up this fall. Most people (not just kids) care only about the games and not necessarily the design of the handheld device. It's a good entry-level device. Weird design, though. I don't own a 3DS yet so don't be surprised if I post one day saying that I've bought this model (on a budget, dammit).

I am glad they are relesaing this now. It will only help the Vita sell now.

We'll see. With Pokemon and Zelda on the horizon, this device will do very well. I love my VIta and there's some really great titles for it in the near future.

I never cared for pokemon and unless it is a new Zelda that does not need the stylus to move link around I am not interested.
