Life as a cat guy (in FF14)

Life is good in the world of FF14. I have been playing as a cat guy pugilist, kicking butt and takin names for the most part. But after I hit lv 21 I found that it was time to take brake from adventuring and try my hand at a trade. Part of this reason was because I can make materia now and have plenty of gear with slots for it. Yet I can not learn how to attach them to my gear until I have gotten to lv 19 in a skill of the hand.
I had been kicking around the idea of taking up being a blacksmith, but the Blacksmith guild was in a different city than the one I started in at the time so I waited. Then after doing a little research on the path that my pugilist is likely going to take to become a monk I decided to become a leather worker. For the most part the bulk of gear that my guy will be useing is made my leather workers.
I was not sure that I was going to enjoy the more mundane jobs but within an hour I was a lv 10 leather worker and hooked on making stuff. The process of making items is much like combat in that it requires strategy, skill, and some luck. Plus whatever stuff you make that you don't want or need you can sell.
I see now why so many people have gotten into these kinds of games over the years.
