August 2013 Purchases

The gaming season is about to heat up. It hasd been a pretty decent month for gaming. There wasn't much I am interested on the 360. I used to get all my third party titles on the 360 but I decided to change that since my PS3 is getting more attention by its many exclusive titles that are coming out over the last year.

Games I bought

Now I haven't played Killer is Dead yet but I am not too happy that its getting mediocre to down right bad scores. It's probably the biggest letdown for me in a long time. I decided to hold on to the game because its different. I don't mind offensive sexual content. Suda 51 has a interesting and impressive style in how he presents his games. If his name wasn't attached than I would have skipped it. I haven't yet played it though. Tales of Xillia is very impressive. I like how you can chain with a character to watch your back and do mix your specials together for an attack. Its a great game so far. I am only on the second chapter. I been doing a lot of grinding. I am enjoying it. Namco Bandai has been incredible with JRPGs this generation. They been leaving Square Enix in the dust!

I haven't played Splinter Cell: Blacklist yet. I don't know when I will get around to it. I look forward to jumping into some Mercs vs Spies. Dragon's Crown has been a lot of fun. It has been incredible on the Vita. I really enjoy playing online and meeting others. I have been playing exclusively as the elf. I defeated the Ancient Dragon and now playing on hard and that is no joke. This has been my favorite game of August that I played.

The Walking Dead: The Video Game is only 25 dollars. I might have played it already but I don't mind playing this game on my Vita. It was an incredible game. I haven't yet played it though.

I also bought Duck Tales: Remastered, Skull Girls, and Splunky on the Vita. I know Skull Girls is an old game but it was freaking less than 4 bucks and wanted it long ago. I haven't played Duck Tales: Remastered yet. I played countless hours of Splunky on my Vita. That game is so challenging and addicting! It is an incredible game to own on the Vita.

Cutting the line somewhere. There are games I skipped that still wanted. I wouldn't mind getting Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F on the PS3. I loved the Vita game but it was all in Japanese. It is also in 3D which I could see what its like in that form. I would like to have Saint's Row 4 but I would get Project Diva F before that. Pay Day 2 seemed like it would be alright. What about you? What did you buy in August or wouldn't mind still owning?

I'm working on Spelunky and Killer is Dead for reviews right now. Spelunky's a really good game, but damn is it hard. I've put in nearly three hours into it and still haven't got past the caves. Reminds me of Demon's Souls in a way. KiD is alright so far, but the combat either has to add something to impress me or the story has to go somewhere amazing for me to like it.

Your working on reviews? Where for here? Your blog or what? In Splunky I have gotten past the caves and the jungle area. I have gotten to an icy place but when I die I have to backtrack through the jungle again. I think I need to give the dude who is in the mines stuff to build. I gave him two bombs and two ropes. I hope he doesn't need much else so I don't have to backtrack through the jungle over and over.

I haven't played Killer is Dead. Most of my time has been going to Splunky and Tales of Xillia.

I write them for a site called Rotorob. It's normally a sports site (I'd recommend it if you're into fantasy, they do a good job there), but they also have video game reviews. There's also a seperate gaming site there for smaller games. I'll send the links for them (have a Rayman Legends review on the first one)

I played the Spelunky demo and it reminded me of Warioland, not the warioware games, but the gameboy warioland games.

My biggest qualm with Suda 51 games is the length. Aka, paying top price for a 6 hour game irks me. However,I really want to get Lollipop chainsaw and Shadows of the damned. They're going for rates on amazon that don't necessarilly break the bank!

Dragon's crown is definitely up my alley. Side-scrolling beat em ups don't get nearly the same amount of love & attention as they used to.

Shadows of the Damned didn't have tight nice aiming mechanics like Dead Space and other third person shooters but the crazy dialogue and the situations your thrown into was a great experience. That is why I like his games. I been meaning to buy Lollipop Chainsaw but never got around to it.

Dragon's Crown set a standard that is hard to beat in the side scrolling beat em up genre. That game is visually a masterpiece. Its cool being able to see your reflection in your hand drawn character in puddle of water. There is not short cuts in the details in the game. They went all out.

After wanting to like Killer 7, I never had much interest in Suda51 games. The reviews for his games have pretty much always been all over the board as well.

I can't wait to play Tales of Symphonia HD when it's released next year. Never tried the series before, but I've wanted to try Symphonia since it was released on Gamecube.

Tales of Symphonia HD, I think its pretty cool that its on the way as well. I missed out on it as well. Its crazy with the PS4 on the horizon, the PS3 is still getting a lot of games this year and later with Tales of Symphonia HD and Tales of Xillia 2.

I need to pick up Xillia.  I've been putting off Skullgirls for a long time.  Damn shame I missed it for $5.

Xillia is great. Worth getting! Skullgirls has an awesome presentation. It is a very unique fighting game.
