I picked up Atlantis and Yars' Revenge today from my Local Retro game shop ( Software Seconds).

Do any of you remember these games? If so lets talk about the fun I know we had playing them.

Never had Atlantis, but.....

YAr's Revenge is freaking awesome!  I didn't discover it until the 1990's when I was collecting old games and systems.  I love that game.  It's just so damn apocalyptic, the buzz/hum of the soundtrack, the black background, the simple gameplay.  I wish I still had a copy even on iOS or something.

I need to buy an atari.  They couldn't be too expensive these days. I really enjoyed my times I spent with Atari, before NEs came along and after.

some are going for about $80. It all depends on which one you get or if it comes in the box like one of mine did.

I had both of these games back when they came out in the 80's and played the crap out of them.

I remember when you couldn't sell an Atari for 5 cents.  Jeez.

I think most of it is people like us wanting to relive our childhood gaming memories.

I've tried to become a retro collector, but after playing modern day games for so long, I just can't bring myself to play those old school Atari games. I'll download them on my phone for 99 cents, but thats about it.

I don't have any Atari games. I want to get one of those systems that comes with a bunch of them on it though. That's awesome there's a store that sells retro games where you live. I'd probly be bankrupt if we had one over here lol.

My uncles or cousins had an Atari, and loved it, apparently, but sadly no, I don't remember these. Too young.

Yar's Revenge is one of my favorites of the atari 2600

I went in looking for Pitfall and came out with these. I loved both of these games when I was little. Now I can play them how nature intended. On the 2600.

Yars' Revenge was my favorite 2600 game

I have the Atari and Activision collections on PS2, so I can actually play both of these games on PS3 (since mine is a 60-gigger). Still, it's not quite the same as playing them on a 2600, as you said to GH.

Yes. It just is not the same playing the ROM or on a new gen system for me. These are some grat games.

XBLA has Yar's Revenge. I don't know about PSN, though.

Tami, is that the old one or the reboot they did?  I heard the reboot is awful.

Well Tami I have the OG version now. I like some of the old NES era games on the new gen systems but, nothing beats playing a 2600 game on a 2600.

I played both of these games in my youth. Howard Scott Warshaw's Yar's Revenge remains an enjoyable and playable game to this day. Atlantis is a pretty good take on the Missile Command style of gameplay. The Intellivision version is a tremendously good game.

I never got to play the Intellivision version. I am in the market to get a Intellivision though so maybe it will be one of the games I get for it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yar's Revenge.  I have that one, but I hadn't played it in many years.  I use to play the hell out of that game in the early 80s.

I had Atlantis, but don't really remember it too well. Yars Revenge was something special though.  I never actually owned it, but I would always look forward to playing it.

My parents had some friends who had an atari with Yar's Revenge.  When they would go visit them and force me to come along, they would allow me to go off to the den and play the atari. I would spent hours playing Yars Revenge (along with other atari games that we didn't have, like the smurfs) when otherwise I would have been bored sitting around and listening to adults talk.

I felt the same way about Atlantis. Sure I enjoyed Yar's Revenge but I would spend hour playing Atlantis. I remember one time my mom gave me some money to give it a break.

Wow, Atlantis! I played that on my old Intellevision oh so many years ago. (Thirty, ok. It was thirty years.) I can still remember it being such an awesome experience. And, as luck would have it, I had almost completely forgotten about it. Thanks for reviving it's memory. (At least for me.)

I never played it on the Intellivision but, I really want to now. No problem.
