A Treasured Genesis classic gets some love

No Time to Rest

From: Gunstar Heroes

Remixed by: Ivan Hakštok

Turns out that September 9th is not just the birthday of the Dreamcast (in America) but also Gunstars Heroes, Treasure's debut game on the Sega Genesis, and this year it turned 20. To commerate the occasion OCR released its 42nd album, Be Aggressive!: A Gunstar Heroes Tribute Album. As an ardent Treasure fan, I'm pretty excited. I just found out about all this tonight, so I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole album yet but here's one of the tracks I like so far. "No Time to Rest" is an apt description of the game, though this '80s-esque rock remix seems less hard-hitting than some of the mixes on the project. It's a high-energy, feel-good track and wouldn't feel out of place if stuck directly into the game. So give it a listen and make sure to check out the whole 24-track album!

I played Gunstar Heroes a lot back in the day, but honestly I don't remember any of the music for it lol. I think I still got the GBA version laying around somewhere. That was a pretty good song though. I'm gonna check out the rest of this album.

In my opinion music has never been Treasure's strong point but dang if they can't craft the most intense and satisfying action!

I have to admit I don't recall much of the music in this game, let alone the game itself. I only played it once but never really warmed to it. Which is odd given my enjoyment of treasure games as well. I will agree the 80's rock isn't as noticable in this remix. You'd think it'd hit the notes harder for the theme itself.

You should give it another shot. Gunstar Heroes is a great game, especially if you have someone to play co-op with. It just has a very different feel from other run-n-guns, like Contra or Metal Slug.

Very nice. The guitar and the synth complemented each others very well.

Glad you liked it! There is a lot more guitar to be found in the rest of the album lol
