Hello everyone. Its been awhile. I know all of you guys are either enjoying yesterday's release of Grandiose Taking of  Automobiles:The Fifth or having a structured and well matured debate over Sega's recent acquisition of Index Corp. and Altus on the internet. However if I could take a moment of your time to tell you about a really awesome chance to give back to a really great cause. The following is taken from Eventhubs, where I read the original story.

"Ian "E-Dawg" Donmoyer is a member of the fighting game community in New Mexico, who plays multiple titles from UMvC3, SSF4 AE v2012 to VF5 FS.

On December 18, 2011, his son James was born, but sadly after just three months, he passed away. James had a rare but serious congenital heart defect - the most common birth defect in newborns, of which 1 in 100 are born with - called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, or HLHS.

His death could have been prevented.

After a lot of pain and wondering what to do next, Donmoyer decided to organize a charity event that would combine his love of video games, and aid a cause that would honor his son.

The Art of Fighting will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 27-28, 2013. This is an art exhibit and video game competition.

All of the proceeds will benefit two charities: The Save Babies Through Screening Foundation and the March of Dimes New Mexico Chapter, who are fighting to save children's lives and spread awareness about congenital heart defects. Hit the jump to read more.

After hearing Donmoyer's story, Capcom, Sega, BrokenTier, Iam8bit, Seth Killian and more all offered to help, by sending over items for the tournament so they could be raffled and used as part of the event to give more money to this cause.

If you plan to donate, please watch this event's live stream starting at 1 p.m. PDT on September 28, 2013, at http://www.twitch.tv/nmism for more information. We'll also be embedding this tournament's live stream here on the front page of EventHubs on that day as well.

You can find additional details about this event on the NM-ISM and Facebook event links below.

While the actual event isn't until next week, I'm reposting this in hopes of spreading the message and getting more people to come to event or just watch. This is a great cause and its wonderful that many major FGC game companies, sponsers, and personalities are showing their support. So please pass along info about the tournament (Note: Not this blog)  anyone who might be interested and try to tune in the stream on the 27th. Thanks for reading.
