Oh Friday, how I have missed you! Hi Pixlbit! As the week ends, it’s time for another Quick Hits with Chris. Like many I picked up a certain game

(I bought it at Toys R Us, and I already have RDR, but I’ll give this copy to my brother when he buys his PS3 GTA Bundle)

And well unlike a lot of folks, I really haven’t played much of the story mode. Is it not interesting? It’s ok, but having a new map to explore I decided to take a tourist approach to some of the spots in Los Ange…err I mean Los Santos. There are no spoliers because nothing involves any of the story, just stuff you can find if you “borrow” a car and start driving around. If you’re not interested, cool, there are some other interesting stuff after my touristy take on GTA V.

I first had to do the install

Holy cow, that is a big install. I took on and finished the current Candy Crush

That’s level 390 something. I swear the makers of the game made some levels “Throw your iDevice/Android device against the wall” frustrated.

Okay it’s time to take the touristy tour of Los Santos

I found Conroy’s Flowers (I remember seeing these buildings everywhere when I was growing up)

A street that looks similar to a certain street in GTA San Andreas. I’m still looking for the actual street.

City Hall

What’s supposed to be Griffith Observatory

The Los Santos version of Hollywood Bowl

View of the City

The Vinewood sign

A selfie in front of the “shack” that Reddit was speculating about it (it’s a tram station)

The city under the “shack”

The Capital Records Building

A certain school in Westwood

Pauley Pavilion, home of the basketball team for that school in Westwood

A scenic shot on the other side of the island

I went looking for a certain animal underwater…

And my character went “that guy”

Yep at some point I’ll probably get back into playing the missions, but for now its cruise around and taking pics.

I also downloaded the iPhone app but I haven’t really used it

Well there you have it, GTA like a tourist!

Pickups

Did a quick stop at the local thrifts and I found this

OK, I don’t have it yet, and it feels like it’s complete (notice it being tapped up like it has government secrets). I open it and well

So I have an empty game, and it isn’t worth driving back to get a refund ($3). So thinking positively I have a memory card!

Some new music from iTunes

Anuhea is a singer from Hawai’i and I would describe her music as Hawaiian Pop/Rock. This is a live album, and it’s pretty good. I bought her last album on iTunes because I thought I wouldn’t be able to find a physical form on the mainland, and then found it the next week at Best Buy.

Here’s the video that hooked me on the last album

Another favorite is Hawaiian Style Band’s Greatest Hits. Also good stuff!

Some new CDs

I’m most interested in the Bollywood CD. Trying out different music, and who knows I might find a song or two I like.

Yes I am perpetuating EA’s micro-transactions, by purchasing these minor uniform updates.

Before I finish off this Quick Hits, I saw this on Reddit and thought it was fitting for Pixlbit

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Sounds like you had some fun. I liked your little tour around GTA V. I spent a lot of time in both AC and AC II just roaming around and taking in the sights. That's quite the eclectic mix of music you have there, by the way.

It's fun just roaming around these games with huge maps. Tons of things to see, and you know there are probably easter eggs, and other goodies hidden. I did a little bit of roaming around in AC on the Vita, and the PS3 too. It's good stuff.

Haha yeah my taste in music is spread out. There is tons of good music spread over all genres. I've never heard/watched anything from Bollywood, and when I saw that CD, $2 bucks was worth trying something new. I might hate it, or I might find a couple of songs to make the purchase worth it.

Most Bollywood music sucks...

Well as songs they aren't TOO horrible, but 99.9 percent of the time in the context of the movie it's in they are completely unnecessary and don't fit the mood of the movie at all. I like to think that if you enjoy watching Indian movies, you either haven't seen anything else, or genuinely don't care for anything else. There's no middle ground. I actually have proof for this, I should write a blog about this some other time.

Awh man, you got duped with the monopoly game. I wouldn't be too pissed off though, because the best way to play monopoly is legit lol.

I've heard scary stories about candy crush and how it consumes lives lol. I'm scared to try it.

I've never heard or seen anything Bollywood related, but I figured a couple of bucks was worth dipping my toe into it.

Yeah I got duped by the thrift store folks. Oh well, it was a couple of bucks, and I'm sure to run into a copy of Monopoly at some point. I'm open to buying a disc only copy now that I have the case. Truth is, I was only going to play a little bit of it to make sure it works and then add it to my PS2 library. Can't go wrong with the board game. The Star Wars version was popular among my friends.

Lifeinvader. Ha!

I like that you can take photos with your phone in GTAV. I guess that's not new though.

I remember getting ripped off like that with a game at a convention. It was Iron Storm for the Saturn and I was pissed.

That's a really touching image of Yamauchi in Super Mario Bros.

I do like the phone pics, and being to upload them to the Social Club. It's fun to look at some of the pics other people take.

Damn at a convention? That really sucks. I hope you went back and got your money back.

It's nice tribute to Yamauchi. There were a couple on there, but that one was my favorite.

I didn't get my money back because I was half way home when I realized and decided it was too much trouble to go all the way back. Note to self: always check the boxes for the disc! I don't know why I just went into trust mode at the Con that day. Got a little too excited by it all I guess.
