Beyond Good, Beyond Evil, Beyond Your Wildest Imagination

Alot of you may remember this movie from your childhood, and some of you may be a bit bitter towards seeing your favorite Transformers killed off. Hasbro said that it damaged the brand that they would never do that ever again. I had previously said that I watched the movie a long time ago, and ever since then I had watched it once or twice a year. It may be cheesy now but this what was considered the equivilent of the live-actions movies from now.Having seen all live action movies, I can clearly say that the original 86 movie is far better than any of the Michael Bay movies. Wanna know why? Here's why:

A new threat

http://mimg.ugo.com/201004/42518/unicron.jpg

The movie starts of with this sinister looking planet flying through space and eventually reaches this planet inhabited by these robotic (perhaps Cybertronian) people. The planet starts shaking and the people/robots are in a panic trying to escape. The planet then starts eating the planet! The people try to evacuate but it is pointless as they are sucked back into the planet-eating...planet. This thing is possibly more powerful and dangerous than all the Decepticons put together. This is easily more dangerous than anything in the live-action movies, the Fallen or Sentinel Prime couldn't hold a candle to this thing.

Decepticon Attack on Autobot City

Megatron sent Laserbeak on a spying mission to spy on the Autobots, then reported back that some Autobots are heading to Earth on a ship. Megatron then has a plan to hijack the ship and enter Autobot City on Earth undetected. What followed was possibly the horror of alot of fans, fan favorites like Brawn, Prowl, Ratchet, and Ironhide were killed. Ironhide had the worst death, he was killed by point blank from Megatron's Fusion Cannon! I guess this is were the deaths in the Michael Bay movies come from, since they just drop like flies when they die.

Afterwards Megatron enacted his plan to attack Autobot City and cause so much destruction. Alot of Autobots were also killed, but none of the new ones weren't. The Autobots attempted to contact Optimus Prime back on Cybertron as a last resort.

Optimus tips the fight in his favor

Optimus Prime arrives and during his assault he is accompanied by an awesome song:

I have this on my Pixlbit page, so evertime you visit my page, you are greeted by epic awesomeness, be sure to have your speakers on!

Anyway, Optimus runs over some cons, the rockets up in the air to transform , and blasts some cons while still in the air. Then the climatic battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron begins. Megatron gets owned by Optimus to a point were Megatron begs for mercy. Hot Rod sees through this ruse and tries to stop Megatron only to be taken hostage by Megatron. Megatron the shot Optimus multiple times in a wound he received in the fight, Megatron then was about to finish off Prime when Optimus used all his might to knock Megatron down. Megatron was defeated and the Decepticons were forced to retreat, the day was won but at a price.

Death of Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime was dying due to the injuries he received in the fight. Optimus told the Autobots to mourn over his death, it was that he entrusts Ultra Magnus with the Matrix of Leadership. Ultra Magnus said that he was not worthy, Optimus said that neither was him but the Autobots needed a leader. With his final breath, Optimus said Till All are One and the Matrix slipped from his hand.

Hot Rod caught it and began to shine, hinting that he was destined to be the leader. After Hot Rod gave Magnus the Matrix, Optimus went offline, he had died and his body turned grey. This was probably the saddest part in the movie and admit it, you cried when you saw this part. If you say no, you're obviously lying. The music matched this scene perfectly well, unlike in Revenge of the Fallen were he was killed rather quickly, with the military just dropping his body on the ground.

Megatron meets Unicron

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/hzNsOGt3bHk/hqdefault.jpg

Astrotrain was headed to Cybertron with the Decepticons but said he wont make it unless they jettison some weight. Starscream proposed the idea of throwing every wounded con into space, including Megatron. Megatron said he still functioned but Starscream still sent Megatron out into space. Starscream then self-appointed himself as the new leader and another fight broke inside Astrotrain.

Megatron and the wounded cons drifted slowly in space until they stumbled upon Unicron. Unicron proposed a deal, he would repair Megatron and his wounded soldiers if they destroyed the Matrix of Leadership, the one thing that can stop Unicron. Megatron tried bargaining some more but Unicron had enough, Megatron refused his offer the Unicron said he would destroy him. Megatron accepted the offer that he became Galvatron, and his new team headed to Cybertron to stop Starscreams coronation as new leader of the Decepticons.

Starcreams Coronation

When the Decepticons returned to Cybertron, Starscream was made the new leader of the Decepticons, finally Starscream managed to become leader! Only for Galvatron to arrive and destroy them. Galvatron shot Starscream and Starscream fell appart. There was a ctually a scene that was taken out of the movie that when Optimus Prime died, he fell appart like Starscream did.

Bad words in a childrens movie

http://quaedam.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/tf07.png

I only brought this up because if I didn't, someone would point it out on why it wasn't on the list. Spike says s*** when the explosives don't work on Unicron, Bumblebee is as horrified as we are. Then Ultra Magnus says damn when he can't open the Matrix. Sure the live-action movies have swear words, but it was something unheard of in a kids movie. But that isn't compared to the robot carnage in the movie.

Speaking of carnage, notice some red stuff when Unicron is eating planets in the movie? I can take a guess that it's blood. I mean do robots bleed? If not, why is that stuff red?

The Universal Greeting

                             http://content8.flixster.com/question/51/50/34/5150346_std.jpg

Theres a point in the movie were Kup and Hot are greeted with some natives on the planet Quintessa. They use the greeting to try to communicate with the natives, but when the Bots ran out of energon snacks, things got ugly and were captured. It was there when they learned about Unicron, the thing that eats planets.

After their escape, Hot Rod and the gaing wound up on the planet of Junk, Hot Rod used the Universal Greeting to tell Wreck-Gar he came in peace. It went well apparently. The Universal Greeting goes like this: Bah Weep Graaaagnah Wheep Ni Ni Bong. I sometimes use it to greet people, and according to the movie everyone in the universe knows it.

Unicron Transforms

This is the part were s*** is about to get real, Unicron reveals his true form to Galvatron, and proceeds on his was to destroy Cybertron. That's what Galvatron gets for double-crossing Unicron. Galvatron winds up inside of Unicron as well as the Autobots when they crashed throught Unicrons eye.

Arise, Rodimus Prime

http://theeradicatorreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/The-spirit-of-Optimus-Prime-saying-Arise-Rodimus-Prime-Transformers-the-Movie-1986.jpg

Hot Rod managed to recover the Matrix and it began to glow and he began to open it and you could hear Optimus Prime said Arise, Rodimus Prime, Rodimus used the Matrix to light their darkest hour and destroy Unicron, while The Touch played.

The Autobots celebrated their victory as well as a new era of peace.

I could go on but I'll cut it short, this movie is worth watching atleast once, plus the amazing soundtrack makes it worth it.

Did you like Transformers the Movie? What did you like and dislike? Thanks for reading and Till All are One!

The Transformers movie came out at the height of my being 'into' Transformers, so I was very excited to see it in theaters as a kid.  I even brought my first and favorite Transformers toy with me to the movies: Ironhide.

I thought the movie was awful.  I know they killed off a bunch of the characters to make room for new toys, but I think that was totally unnecessary.  Even though I knew they were just toys, so I wasn't distraught or anything, I was still bummed they killed off my favorite character, Ironhide, in the worst way.  Plus, the cursing in the movie was totally uncalled for.  I know they were trying to make it appealing for older viewers, but this is still a movie about kids toys.  They should've just had the characters they wanted to get rid of go off on a faraway mission, and wouldn't return for eons.

After that, the new season of the cartoon featured events after the movie, and it just lost its charm on me. That's about the time that I started being disinterested in Transformers.  Of course, there were other outside factors as well, plus I was just getting older.  You know how fickle kids are.  But the movie was what triggered it all.

But you are right, the animated movie from the 80's is still better than the Micheal Bay films.

If you want to see a Transformers story DONE RIGHT, you definitely need to try Fall of Cybertron.  --Cary

The animation still holds up, particularly the Unicron sequences. I recall feeling frustrated that the Decepticons didn't suffer many losses over the course of the film, while the Autobots take such a beating. They just got away with too much shit. And while Unicron is defeated at the end, Galvatron's demise felt unsatisfying because there was no way to know if he was dead or incapacitated in some way (oh, he's floating in space; I feel so much better). That said, I do have to admire the cavalier attitude of the writers to really shake things up and put the Autobots on retreat during the entire film (feels like The Empire Strikes Back).

I haven't seen the dvd yet. For a while I owned the VHS (which was a rental copy from a hometown rental store before it sold its VHS stock).
