5 Things I Want in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age has admittedly been my least favorite Bioware series since their shift to consoles. Not that it's a bad series (well, Origins was great at least), just that I think Knights of the Old Republic delivered a similar experience while doing a much better job in a more interesting world. That said, I am still very excited for Dragon Age 3 and am really liking that Bioware is taking their time and trying to make it a really big game. So here's what I want from the game.

Now, I'm not going to go into the super obvious stuff. Things like Bioware delivering on the open world, an improved console interface without sacrificing depth (since I want the PS4 version), and getting rid of the awesome button. These are more personal things I want that don't come up quite as often.

5. Don't Overdo DLC

Bioware and EA, please let me know you learned your lesson from the backlash From Ashes, and to a lesser extent, Leviathan and Omega received as DLC packs. If you want to do DLC, an expansion like Awakening or modestly priced, but meaty packs like Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadow Broker are perfect. But don't go overboard with these $15 ones and don't make the total cost of the DLC more than the game itself. Give us content that justifies the price or cut back.

Even I haven't paid for this.

And please, if you do it again, make some kind of Ultimate Edition. That Mass Effect 2 never got a Game of the Year edition on 360 and ME3 still does not have one is bullshit.

4. Make Warrior and Rogue More Interesting

In theory, my favorite class is Rogue. I like sneaking up on enemies, setting traps, and going for low blows. In practice, however, Mage is everyone's favorite class. It is more powerful than the others hands down. In 3 I'd like for not just the traps to be balanced so they're a great alternative for magic, but that there's opportunities for them as well.

Warrior I haven't played as, so cannot comment, but I would like if they made me want to play it.

3. More Interesting Races

A good start, but let's give something else even crazier.

You want to know the real reason I love the Mass Effect universe so much more than Dragon Age's. It's because in Mass Effect other races come in all kinds of shapes and sizes with very creative designs. Dragon Age, they're midgets, small humans, and big humans. I want more races like Golems or Zelda's Zora and Gorons. Ones that fit in the universe, but look very different from humans. 2 actually did a good job by making Qunari more fun, but I want a new race or two introduced as fleshed out as Elves and Dwarves that have a really fun new design.

And if you want to argue the lore, Inquisition takes place in a different part of the world and Mass Effect 2 introduced Drell, Collectors, and Vorcha very well into a universe where communication is easy. I'm sure they can make it work.

2. Better Balancing

.....fair odds

The worst part of Dragon Age hands down was how the game was always either too easy or unreasonably hard. There were far too few sections where I felt I was getting a legitimately fair challenge and even on the easiest mode there would be difficulty spikes I had no chance to survive. 2's fix was just to make things way too easy where I felt I didn't even need AI companions most the time. I want Inquisition to be tough but fair.

1. The Male Character Voiced by H. John Benjamin

Laugh if you want, but I firmly believe that 90% of games can be improved if the main character were replaced with Sterling Archer. Some may argue against this, but deep down we know it's true. And honestly, Bioware makes being a dick so much damn fun that the only thing that could possibly improve it would be that voice. Just imagine:

"Alistair, if you don't obey that order I will make you eat spiderwebs!"

"Leliana, stop treating Zevhran like he's people!"

"Yes, we're destroying this machine that creates golems Morrigan! Do you want The Terminator to happen?"

Seriously Bioware, that is how you win fans back after Dragon Age 2

No.  I like it too.  I played through it half a dozen times.  I would be playing it now, but I would like to get the dlc first.  It's too expensive, so I'm waiting for a price cut.

I liked it as well.  I only stopped my second play-through to work on my backlog.  I"m also waiting for a DLC sale.  It'll probably come right before the third game is released.

I'm expecting them to screw us with the dlc like they always do.  Origins was awesome.  They released that ultimate edition that had everything.

Need to try this game series too since I gave Mass Effect a go. Hope Bioware and EA learn from their "mistakes"
