Happy Friday Pixlbit! The weekend has started early for me, so I thought I would add another Quick Hits with Chris Blog.

Humble Bundle

Well I decided to give it a try, and I took part in the Humble Bundle for Android. I thought about also buying the Humble Bundle PC games too, but I don’t know if I will ever play with them. I did think about building up my Steam Library…even if I rarely use my Steam Account. Heck it took me a couple of minutes to figure out what my name/password is. I might take part if there are games on the PC that I want to try.

The games installed through an app on my Nexus 7, and it was quick and painless. The soundtracks are pretty cool, I downloaded the FLAC and mp3 versions (thanks for having both options open). This is a great service, and it helps charity so how can you go wrong? I’ll be buying more stuff in the future!

Thrift Store…This is F**king Awesome

So one of the local thrift stores is raising money for probably one of the employee’s children’s school. I’m cool with this, because I always try and buy whatever little kids are selling for their fundraisers, but I was a little puzzled by this. I used to sell these damn candy bars for high school band. They were much bigger and I think you got a discount on actual pizza instead of breadsticks from the local Pizza Hut. Best memory from selling these, was pops saying “I’ll buy the box, you sell the candy and keep the profits aka I don’t want to sell it so here’s 30 bucks” Good times.

Some music I found from a couple of stores.

An album I picked up from Goodwill for a buck. They are still trying to thin out the giant collection that was donated there almost a month ago. Now it’s down to stuff I really don’t like so I just skimmed through hoping to find something interesting, and I spotted the Letterman.

The thrift store across the street had some new CDs, and I added some to the library

They also had a couple of boxes of new records but since they were Sinatra and some other folks, they decided to jump the price up from $1 to $6, which I think is crazy, but I know the hipster kids will be all over it. As I was leaving I spotted a bunch of 360 games and an X-Box game…all marked $10 each. There was some good titles but I don’t have a 360…speaking of 360 I wonder if the console was donated too.

More Music Pickups

Oh Target, why must you make my wallet hate me so? I went into Target needing shaving cream, light bulbs, and an Android gift card. I left with the Android Gift Card, and this stuff

They are still trying to get rid of their Vinyl. I picked up both for $7 each. Pink Floyd has a code to where you can download a 320 kbps mp3s of the album, which is really cool, if I didn’t already own the CD version. I’d like to see newer Vinyl releases do this because it’s cool to not have to rip the record, and then convert it to play on a portable device.

Various albums that were on sale

Toys R Us

I couldn’t return my copy of Red Dead, and my brother didn’t want it, so I’ll probably include it in a White Elephant gift this year and throw in a giftcard too. While I was at TRU, I did find the Kraang Minifig polybag, and since it was Buy 1 Get 1 50% off I bought a couple of other polybags too

The Kraang Minifig is apparently hard to find, and this store had about a dozen or so. I didn’t want to be “That Guy” and buy them all up just to resell, so I bought two, one to open and one to keep sealed (I don’t know why I started doing this) and also bought the Riding Mower guy, and Coast Guard flyer.

GTA Just Because

I guess every blog should have some tie-in with GTA so here is my character with a new supped up car

Linky Linky

I’m not a Yankee fan, but I do respect and root for Mariano Rivera because he didn’t do any stupid off the field things. He played the game, and did it well. No trash talking, no crazy antics, just went out and did his job. Saw this a couple of times and you have to be strong to get misty eyed

Nothing but respect…(even if that World Series vs the Padres still stings) #ExitSandman

This Steambox and Steam OS sound really interesting especially for someone like me who hasn’t built a computer in years, and hasn’t been into PC gaming. I’m interested to see where it goes, how it will work, and how much it’s going to be. As it stands right now, I have an older Dell tower connected to my TV where I played some Command & Conquer.

Well it looks like EA Sports is done with College Football. I’m not surprised, but I would like to see 2K pick it up and continue to build on it. What I think will happen is that conferences will soon get together with other conferences and release a game on their own. Sort of a PAC 12/B1G game where you play teams named after cities (remember the old Bill Walsh game where you didn’t play Tennessee, you played Knoxville?) and then you would play your conference game, and end at the Rose Bowl versus the other conference. College football is becoming a giant cash cow that the universities and television channels are trying to turn into a minor league sport with big time revenue.

Well there you have it, I am off to play more GTA V

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

It is pretty cool. I've been slowly getting in Pink Floyd, and I thought it would be one of the first ones to go when the albums hit clearance.

Worlds Finest and Steve Miller....just a great combination.  Keep up the good work Chris,.  I really enjoy your Quick Hits with Chris blogs.

Haha, World's Finest. I gotta say, even if they have been shrinking, for a buck, they are a good candy bar.

Thanks, I like having the Quick Hits to be the spot where I put more of my random thoughts into.

Rick Astley?

*snickers*

It would be awesome if there was a thrift store near me but there isn't. I could get so much music for cheap.

Wait, you totally missed out on the Celine Dion Greatest Hits CD Tongue Out

Dang no thrift store, that really sucks. Best spot to look for music on the cheap, and it helps people.
