Octoberween is coming...

The countdown has begun...

Once again “octoberween” is soon to be upon us and I find myself unable to hold back in celebrating it. I find myself once again thinking about the things that make October so great. For me it’s the usual staples that I’ve come to associate the month with. Nightly bone fires with weenie roasts, hearing the sounds of rustling leaves as they slowly turn color and fall, listening and watching to music and shows that have a supernatural bent to them. And of course who can forget my usual ritual that I’ve been doing off and on over the course of my life: Playing Halloween themed video games!

I’ve been doing these Top 11 game choices for the past five years, with varying degrees of changes over the course of that time. It feels different this time around being it’ll be the first time I’ve done this from the original site I did these Halloween theme blogs on 1up.com. It’ll be interesting to see if I can keep up this month long feature on the various blog sites I’m mirroring this year.

And like each year I’ve tried to make a general theme out of the top 11 games I choose for each year. This year is no different. But oddly enough this choice of theme wasn’t exactly by choice but instead out of unforeseen circumstances. This year’s theme is going to be the “Microsoft-less” Edition. And before anyone guess, no it’s not because of some silly notion of boycotting Microsoft over the Xbox One and it’s before/after system policies. No I’m going with this because my Xbox 360 died recently as well as my original Xbox. It was either using the money to repair the systems and have no game choices for this year or forgo the system replacements and buy my top 11 game choices of 2013.

As you can see I’ve made my choice. The game choices will once again run the gauntlet of the unusual that one might find in the bargain bin. But be forewarned, you won’t find any of the newer games that are currently out or soon to be out later in the coming months. Only the classics or titles that didn’t quite make it in the hearts and minds of gamers, but I have to admit you might find some heavy hitters on the list this year. Though I did do my best to make them interesting and unique…

I’ll also be doing what I did last year and do blog write-ups on each 11 games individual. It seemed to work so well so I thought I’d give it a go again this year.

Also I’ll be again posting more blog writings that will be Halloween-related from guilty viewing/listening/reading pleasures, speicalized features and a few blogs that were left over from last year so I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up post a blog a day during this Halloween. I’ll try to stagger them, more so since I’ll still try to keep up with my RWBY Tuesday blogs every Tuesday. Funny to since the final episode of the season will be on October 31st.

So here goes another year of octoberween goodness. Let’s see if I can keep this up as well as have time to fully enjoy what this month has to offer.

So lookout interwebs! October has finally come.

And it's time to "sin" again once more.

Mwahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahaaaa!

Nice! I wish I could make some like that myself. I fear my artistc stylings are only reserved to writing.

Why do you have to be a kid to fully enjoy halloween? I'm...not a kid yet I still find ways to enjoy this wonderful Octoberween. Besides, what's the point in being an adult when you can't be immature once in awhile.

that's true.  I just haven't really celebrated the holiday for years.  I'd like to though.

I have a bunch of October/Halloween blogs planned for this month—I've even written a couple of them already!—but it's definitely not as many as you. Glad to hear RWBY Tuesdays will continue lol. I'm curious though, just like I was last year, why eleven games?

Great! I hope you have a musical post that is shall we say, castlevania heavy metal/rock related...Let's see if I can keep up with the RWBY tuesday blogs. I'm trying to go all out this month. And to answer your question, I do a Top 11 mostly to break the motonomy of a typical top 10 list. Top 10 lists seem to have fallen out of favor in recent years. Plus it doesn't hurt to have a wild card in the mix. I also have 11 as a nod of respect to The "Nostalgia Critic" who does top 11 lists. LIke him I want to go "one step beyond" when it comes to my halloween lists. I hope you enjoy!
