Another post? What the hell am I thinking.

It appears that I am feeling fairly talkative right now. Even though I may be self-conscious about my writing abilities, I know that writing is something that stimulates my brain. The other thing that helps me write is knowing that I actually do enjoy writing. I never really had issues writing papers in school. I even got an amazing scholarship for college because of an essay that I wrote. The one thing that I do really hate about writing is the editing process, which is why I rarely go back an edit what I have already written. I should make more of an effort to edit, if only to sound less like an idiot. I am sitting down and writing now because I finally feel my thought process settling down. If anybody noticed, my last couple of posts have been all over the place. There was a paragraph that was "finished" mid-sentence. I will warn you that I may re-cover some items from last time or the time before.
I think that we will start with movies. There are two specific points that I would like to talk about as far as movies are concerned. The first being the opportunities that I have to watch movies with my wife, and then the movies that I will never watch with my wife. My wife, Marie, had different priorities before she met me. Most of them have not changed, but now she is more willing to spend time actually watching movies. She has missed out on years of fantastic films and I have the wonderful opportunity to introduce her to them. She most like would have never watched a single Studio Ghibli film if it were not for me. Most recently we sat down and watched the Ghostbusters franchise. She enjoyed and laughed through both films. I know that Ghostbusters 2 has some problems, but I do not think that it deserves as much hate as some people throw at it. It is still enjoyable. There are certain types of movies that I still enjoy, but I know that Marie hates. Films that fall into the horror or gruesome categories or just plain stupid. So, whenever I find the time I do watch one of these types of films. Most recently I finished up Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, which is possibly my favourite zombie movie, ever. It is a fairly typical zombie film from the 70s, but there is just something about it that elevates it above the rest of the sub-genre. Some guy at work kept talking about Miami Connection and so I did watch that. It is quite possibly the funniest and stupid movie I have seen in quite some time. You need to check it out, Miami Connection. Also, on the topic of awful films, I have recently acquired access to a couple of Troma films and hope to watch Toxic Avenger and Class of Nuk'em High over the next couple of weeks.
I just wanted to talk a little bit about Kickstarter. So far I have backed a dozen or so items on Kickstarter. I need to stop backing projects. The majority of the games that I have backed are coming out specifically on PC and I rarely play PC games. I think that I just got caught up in the moment and had a lapse of judgment. A lapse of judgment that apparently keeps reoccurring. Shovel Knight is the only one that I know I will play because of the fact that it it coming out on 3DS. Hyper Light Drifter has an amazing art style and thankfully it is coming out on the PS4 and Vita, because otherwise I probably would not play it. Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, Banner Saga, Project Eternity, and Torment are all games that I backed, but probably should not have. I have backed a couple of card games and so far one has delivered, Boss Monster, and the other two seem as though they should be going to the presses within the month. What I am trying to say is that I am not quite sure how I feel about Kickstarter. I should probably just block the website on all of the browsers that I use.
Just to recap the important bits. Ghostbusters 2 is not as bad as you remember. You need to watch both Miami Connection and Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, but for different reasons. Also, I think I changed my mind... I hate Kickstarter, but I also love it.  It is mostly hate.

I've only seen Ghostbusters, I'll give 2 a shot if I see it. I'm the same as you when it comes to writing, only I tend to self-edit while writing, and that really slows me down oftentimes. Wishing I had written a scholarship essay when I was undergrad. I didn't look hard enough then, though I did get $500 for an essay I wrote. Graduate school is not so keen on the scholarships it seems.

My essay was for the school that I attended and they threw lots of money at me for it.  I find it interesting that I was the last one to recieve that big of a scholarship.  I have been debating going back to school, but there are so many other things that I want to do right now.

I hear you. To be honest, there are other things I'd like to be doing more, but school seemed like the best thing for me right now considering my options.

My wife will watch scary movies sometimes but not zombie movies. Zombies just freak her out. Needless to say, I have yet to see any of the The Walking Dead lol. I backed Retronauts and Video Games Live on Kickstarter but for fairly paltry sums. Just not much extra money right now. I think it's pretty cool though, and wish I could back more stuff. I'm not much of a PC gamer either but I was reading about Shadowrun Returns today and I need to find a way to play that. I think I'd really like it.

I almost backed Retronauts, and am happily enjoying the fruits of that Kickstarter.  The guest on the most recent episode was awesome.  I will say that I probably would not have this "extra" money if I had a kid.

I am not to keen on watching the Walking Dead.  I would much rather read the comic book, even though I have yet to get past the 6th issue.

They just released Shadowrun Returns on iOS last week or so.

It was the iOS version I was reading about actually. But it's only for iPad...and I don't have an iPad...so I'm back to square one. Personally, I'm hoping that sooner or later it'll wind up in a Humble Bundle. I'm a sucker for those lol.

I don't have a wife (to my knowledge), but if I did I would love to watch movies with her.  I don't watch many movies anymore but I used to be a movie nut.  I have a hard time concentrating on one thing for that long.

I hear you about backing kickstarters.  Have you gotten any good stuff out of it though?

I used to watch movies on a daily basis.  I would buy movies on a daily basis.  The last time I actually counted my movies, I was well over 400 physical copies.  I have since had to move a handful of times and have sold off a couple hundred.  Nowadays I prefer 25-45 minute stories that TV shows have.
As far as kickstarter, I got a copy of Shadowrun Returns, a poster that I am not allowed to hang for The Banner Saga, and Boss Monster.  I backed The Name of the Wind playing cards because of the gorgeous artwork and hope to have those around Christmas.

I love Troma movies.  My favorite is The Toxic Avenger.  I've seen most of the older Troma movies.  Best thing about Troma's films is you don't take them seriously.  They're fun.  Get a few friends together, some food and drinks, a couple Troma movies, and you have yourself a party. Laughing

I agree Ghostbusters 2 was not of the same calibur as the first but it was still a good movie. On that note the animated series was actually pretty damn good too. I have the box set with the first two seasons and its just as good if not better than I remember. As for bad movies to avoid, watch Expendables 2 at your out risk, its pretty weak.

Yeah writing like anything gets better with practice so the more you do it the better it gets. My problem is I get too many ideas and get overwhelmed by them. Been working all week on a blog for the Tranformers 30th anniversary thing Chris is putting together. Its fun and frustrating all at the same time, lol.

I keep forgetting about the Transformers thing.  I meant to try and write something up for that.

I also have writing abilities, but i'm too lazy to exploit them.

Has your wife seen Shaun of the Dead? If not, I think that could work as a horror/gore/comedy film she would like. And if you haven't seen it, DO IT NOW!

I have definitely watched Shaun of the Dead and loved it.  The zombie aspect of that film is an automatic turn-off for my wife, so I will never watch it with her.

I'm with you on the writing situation. I love to write too and didn't really have a problem with writing in school. but unlike you with editting issue I mostly hated incertining the footnotes or headers to coloberate work. I hated that. I try to edit when I can but I always end up missing something. I'ts unnvering at times.

who says Ghostbusters 2 is bad! I'll have their head!

same goes for my wife too. She won't watch my scary shows (and thanks for the suggestions) but she oddly got into prison break. never saw that coming.

I love/hate kickstarter to. but I didn't back any of the PC titles. I don't game so no point for me in a sense. though I do regret not helping the shadow of the eternals.
