Sorry I haven't been commenting much in the past two weeks. Been kinda busy in the real world. Bought my first expensive piece of art at my friend Kat's art gallery, will post pics when it's delivered. That was a day trip, she lives up the coast aways. Spent last Sunday at the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival, Monday with my friend Claire from California, yesterday with Andrew and Carole from Wales, doing chores and packing for my trip to Maryland tomorrow, and going to a music party at my friend Mary's tonight with Claire, Andrew, Carole, Terry from London, and a bunch of the "local" folkies. Next week I shall sleep, lol.

Gaming: Because of Cary and Aaron, I bought Ducktales when it hit XBLA. I love it! I've only played the intro and the Amazon level so far, but it's a lot of fun. Other than that, just some Pinball Arcade. Sooner or later, there has to be some down time for gaming!

Reading: Gone back to the classics with The Scarlet Pimpernel and I'll be taking The Fellowship of the Ring off the shelf again soon, too.

Listening: My friend Bob Stuart was at the PMFF and I bought one of his CDs. It's currently my favorite until the next new, shiny CD come along to take its place. Also bought one by a guy named Jeff Warner at the same time. It's good, I just like Bob's better. I managed to get an OK video of Andrew and Carole playing one of my favorite songs that Andrew's written:

The acoustics for listening in that room were great, not so good for recording, unfortunately.

Watching: Caught up on Revolution and watched the first episode from this year. I'm pissed about the death of one character who I really liked. Also watched the first episode of Agents of SHIELD and have been waiting for Jason to come over to watch the second one. Also had a Mission: Impossible movie marathon last week. Not bad. I also watched Oblivion, which I thought was really good. You'd think form all of those movies that I like Tom Cruise, but not really. I think the movies were good in spite of Tom Cruise having been in them.

Ranger Stuff: Lots of nature programs for school groups, and my Maine Conservation Corps member who is assigned to the park and I put in a new lock post for the gate. Sounds easy until you realize the post is eight inches by eight inches by eight feet and needs to be buried three feet in the ground. And first I had to remove the temporary post that was there until we could get the 8x8. That was 6"x6"x8', made of pressure-treated lumber and waterlogged. Weighed more than the 8"x8"x8'. by the way. I got it out by myself, but it wasn't easy. Jenn got back after I got the 6x6 pulled, and we managed to drop the 8x8 in without caving in the sides of the hole or hurting ourselves. Jenn and I are both 5'2", by the way. And now I'm done for the season and have to go find something to get me through the winter. Sigh.

I'll be offline from tomorrow through Tuesday. I won't have time for the internet at The Getaway. Hell, I won't have time for sleep!

Yeah, 've had to set up a tent several times these past few weeks, and while our was not as difficult as yours, it's still not my favorite thing in the world to do.

I've played a bit of Ducktales 2 on nintendo8.com, and I like it, but I keep screwing up and not pogoing.

Nice song. Acoustics are better than some videos, you can at least hear the words.

Have fun at The Getaway!

No tents involved in my post, Joe, lol. A lock post is the big piece of wood that we lock the open gate to so that it doesn't swing closed on anyone by accident or otherwise.

And a grand time was had at the Getaway. I'm still catching up on sleep!

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I played the demo for Ducktales.  I want to get it, but I'm waiting for a price drop.  As soon as I finish Dragon Age Origins, I plan to finally start up Assassin's Creed 2.

Ducktales is fun, and the kids will like it, too. And I really need to get back to AC II.

damn you're busy.  That's great!

I want to play Ducktales, but I'm more thrilled to play the HD update of Mickey Mouse: Castle of Illusion, which I played a thousand times as a kid.

Yeah, I want Castle of Illusion, too. But I did play that on the Genesis and I'd never played Ducktales before.

I finished the Name of the Wind and it was the best book I've probably ever read. I'm 650 pages into Wise Man's Fear and it's really amazing too. Once I'm finished with that I only have two other novels on my book pile that I started building this summer. So I'm getting itchy to buy more so that I don't run out of stuff to read. For some reason seeing that pile shrink and running out of new books makes me nervous.

There is a great essay in a book called An Evening Among Headhunters by Lawrence Millman titled "Bookless in Biak" about his having finished his only book and feeling edgy about not having one and his subsequent quest to find one on a tiny remote tropical island without a bookstore.

DuckTales: Remastered will probably be my winner for the Game of the Year 2-D category.

Thanks for convincing me it was a worthy purchase!

I kind of wish I paid attention when our class read through The Scarlet Pimpernel all those years ago. I have quite the interest in the Reign of Terror and the French Revolution nowadays.

Well, Kevin, it's pretty easy to find.

Of course, my list of things "to read" these days is pretty large. I'll have a lot of things to work through before I consider buying another book!

I need to check out ducktales to. probably PS3 since my xbox controller is crap for 2D style games. Indeed it is time for the Lord of the Rings, moreso with the second movie coming this december.

I played through another couple of levels yesterday, well worth the purchase price.

Been thinking about picking up Ducktales myself. I loved the original game when I was a wee lad!

I was having fun until the end of the last level. Frustration ensued due to platforming difficulties and I quit, losing all progress in the level.  Reminded me of why I prefer the more recent generations of consoles, lol.
