Nice. I wanted to get a 360 from GS for my son, but I know I'll need more than a 4GB. I also got Wet too. I don't know much about the game, so I hope it's good.
Quick Hits: I Bought A 360

Happy Friday Pixlbit! It’s almost the weekend (it is for me, heck yeah 3-Day Weekend!) and to celebrate, it’s another Quick Hits Blog!
After another drama filled Aztec game, they scored 21 points in the 4th quarter to earn a short week win. What I find funny is a lot of the older alums are really negative and once the team was down, they started their hate. I never understood this thinking, it’s your school, win or lose, you root for them. But whatever they are jumping off the bandwagon, more room for the real fans.
So I bought a 360. It was kind of by accident really; let’s take a trip back in time to the land of Wednesday. So on Wednesday I was on Cheapassgamer, and there was a thread about PS3/360s being clearance out at GameStop. It was something like $120 for a 4GB 360 (their were rumors about the new 4GB being converted to used). I was going to buy one of those, and a hard drive for around $250. When I found out the price, I decided to do a little comparative shopping and Walmart had the 250GB model for the same price…new. I was now interested but I needed to do the coin can test*
*Coin Can Test: If there was anything that I wanted that wasn’t a necessity, I would do the coin can test. If I had more than 50% of the price in change I was good to buy it.
I used this on my Nexus 7, but I got paid before I got it, so the budget let me pick one up. I had the coin can money to use and it turns out I had $200 in change, which means the actual console will be $70 out of pocket which isn’t so bad.
Earlier today I went to the local Walmart and picked up my 360, and then hit the local GameStop for some games, and a 3 month Xbox Live. In total I spent about $150 out of pocket for the XBox, Live, and some games
Group shot
Closeup of the games. What I really like about XBox is that they offer those combo discs. One price for two games, it’s a steal. I got into those when I bought my old XBox.
Now for those wondering why get a 360? Well I usually stick to one console per generation, and I do lean towards the Playstation side, so that’s my go to console. Towards the end of the line of the current gen, the games and consoles start to become cheaper which means it’s time for me to give the other console a chance. That’s what I did with the original XBox, and the tradition continues with the 360.
This is my Avitar, surprisingly it kinda looks like me. If you want to see what I’m up to, I’m AztecsAlum (apparently someone took GoAztecs…it was probably me and I just forgot)
Other Pickups!
At a new thrift store that opened up close by my favorite donut spot, I found a bunch of cool stuff. It’s run by the same charity that owns the other thrift stores I like to visit, but this one seems to raise the price on Vinyl they feel is more popular. I can’t blame them, but I won’t buy any $8 albums as blind buys. Anyways here is what I found
I found a Ratchet & Clank in pretty good condition and for a couple of bucks
I listen to a lot of Adam Carolla’s Podcast, and he usually hits on three topics every episode: Passion Fruit Anything, Jimmy Kimmel, and his movie The Hammer. It was $2 I might as well give it a watch.
I found some awesome Jazz albums for $2 each
At my local mom & pop music store they changed their buy 10 get 5 free, to buy 5 get 5 free in their $1.99 section. I like this because I can get five more CDs for the same $20 bucks I spend, but this time I only found 10 albums I wanted, and found some Rap albums in the regular section (the most was $8 for Kanye and Ghostface)
Kanye replaces a digital copy I bought a while back, and I made a copy of Ghostface Killah’s Fishscale a while ago, and now I have a legit copy.
Here are some of the $1.99 CDs in the Buy 5 Get 5 Free
I really liked the Mask Soundtrack back in the day, because of a couple of songs, so for $2 bucks I went back in time…and I questioned 90s Chris’ taste in music. I have Elton John’s album on vinyl, and I really enjoy it, so it’s nice to not have to rip it.
These were the freebies *waits for laughter and jeers. Three out of the four were sealed, and I do like Glee’s version of Don’t Stop Believing. Grease and Madonna, are not my cup of tea, but whatever, it was free.
Some albums I picked up on a whim at Target this week. I like some of Cassadee Pope’s stuff because of her work with Hey Monday, and on The Voice (I bought the set of singles after she won on the Voice, which I thought were solid pop songs). I was surprised about the Miley CD being…pretty good. It’s typical radio music, that sound like inspiration from Kanye’s Yeezus, some Lana Del Rey, and I think you can kind of hear some Shania like pacing. It was a surprise album for me.
Since I got the “Deluxe” version, it came with stickers and well…I’ll just move on to another subject.
In the required GTA mention, I found the big truck to add to the collection. I want Franklin, Michael, and crazy Trevor to have the truck too so I’ll grab one each when I play this weekend.
Franklin with some style, “Clifford” the Big Red Truck, and the big gun
The media was right, GTA does make you want to break laws or in my case HOA rules.
And with that another Quick Hits comes to an end. Have a good weekend Pixlbit!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
