Nice to hear from you.

September was a busy month. I was out doing something nearly every weekend with the family. First it was the Ren Faire, then it was a trip up to Gloucester for a sail, then it was my nephew's birthday...
So, what have I been playing?
Games
Still playing Tales of Xilllia, although I'm getting near the end. Hey, remember Dark Souls? I tossed that back in hoping to make some progress, and while I did make progress it was mostly of the 'This isn't a boss so why am I down here?' Sort. Then I went back to Xillia. I'm on Act 4 of puppeteer and...
Puppeteer is a weird game. Weird in that it's sometimes a chore to play. I tried playing with my nephew and the game was too hard for him. The scissor mechanic and short jump were too much for him, and sometimes to much for me.
I haven't picked up Rayman yet because...
I got my new computer! It's a 27" iMac i7 with 16GB of Ram and a GeForce 780M. It's a feast for the eyes, and I've given myself the equivilliant of a computer hangover because the first thing I did was go and download Guild Wars 2.
So, now I have a Sylvari necromancer named Cotuit. I'm aleady level 10, which might tell you how much I've played in the last two days. I'm having a lot of fun and it runs great on my mac. I'm playing on the Stormbluff Isle server. It's a beautiful game, and it's great to play an MMO again, especially one that doens't have a monthly charge but does have the pretty.
I tried to get my copy of the Witcher 1 to work and it's all fucked up. Apparently they weren't required to sell a working copy for Mac on the Steam store and nothing I could do to the wine wrappers would make it run. The Witcher 2 started fine though, except the DualShock 3 controls are borked, so I'd have to play with mouse and keyboard.... in an actiony game... ARGH... thanks Poland.
Anime and Manga
Summer season of anime finished, and The Eccentric Family was an awesome show that no US licensor has picked up for home release as of yet. We've moved on to the fall season and I've been watching Nagi no Asukara and Gingitsune, both for review, and Log Horizon because....
Log Horizon is yet another "HELP, I'm stuck in an MMO!" anime. Only this time no one knows how it happened and you don't die in real life if you die in the game. Instead it's focusing on party dynamics and, so far, the boredom of being stuck in a world where all the food tastes like nothing. And weirdly, it's running on the Japanese equivilliant of PBS. Basically everything I wished Sword Art Online had been, with half the budget.
I hear you about the busy part. I have been doing something every weekend for the past month, usually music-related, but last night purely social. I'm waiting for the snow to fall to play Tales of Xillia. There's just something about spending a snowstorm tucked inside safe and warm with a good rpg.
