I really want to play that Brothers game. It sounds really interesting.
Hope all is well with work and life.

Hey guys,
Not sure if this made the rounds about Pixlbit yet, but some of your favorite writers from 1up and EGM, plus some other great contributors covering 30 + years of gaming journalism (Andy Eddy FTW!), are kickstarting a new magazine in digital and physical print called RETRO. Despite the name it will cover classic AND current gen gaming. As of this posting they are about half way to goal and could use a little boost in the funding. So if you would like to see new material from these guys on something other than a computer screen or mobile device, consider throwing them some munny! The most popular tier is $35 and you get a year (6 issues) of both print and digital and a RETRO bumper sticker.

Personally I miss the days when a new gaming mag in my mailbox meant a trove of new information about my favorite hobby. The internet pretty much makes that obsolete now, but I still love getting tangible printed magazines that I can flip through and read over. These days I only get GameInformer and Electronic Gaming (not so) Monthly
I secretly always wanted to write for a gaming magazine when I was younger. I thought about creating games but I felt like the overly technical workload would take the fun out of it. I wanted to play games and talk about them with what I considered my professional opinion. Pixlbit has given me an outlet to appease my former childhood self, but as fate would have it my free time is limited and I can’t dedicate as much to it as I would like.
That being said, sorry I haven’t been around much since my work blocked gaming sites. I miss reading and commenting on all your blogs and seeing what you all have to say about mine. It was a great way to break up a stressful day. I am still contributing to the site, though. I was on the Mirrors Edge episodes of the Backloggers Anonymous podcast and hopefully will be on another one soon. I’m also due for a review of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and a surprise feature that all the old 1up fans will appreciate.
Let me know what you guys have been up to, what you’re playing and how things are going. I’ll make a round of comments soon!
I couldn't help being a ridiculous fanboy and copy the list of writers and make some notes:
Jeremy Parish (RPG Zen master, 1UP senior editor, Retronauts, other 1UP podcasts. I've been listening and reading him for years. He's a bit deadpan but very knowledgeable)
Seanbaby (humorist - I've heard him on the EGM podcast and read him in a column I used to read; I think it was in the back of EGM. Funny guy)
Chris Kohler (I listen to him every week on Wired's Game/Life podcast. Super awesome!)
Jeffrey Green (GFW Radio host, I must've heard him there when that was a thing)
Andy Eddy (co-writer on Game Over book. One I have to read sometime.)
Kat Bailey (JRPG Zen master. I loved her podcasts RPGRealm and ActiveTImeBabble. She's been on Retronauts and did a blog on 1UP. I think she does articles for Joystiq, com now)
Ryan Scott (name's familiar. I guess I heard of him from 1UP somewhere)
Leonard Herman
Pat Contri
Ed Semrad
David Siller
Martin Alessi
Patrick Scott Patterson
Keith Robinson (Did games for Intellivision including one of my favorites, Shark Shark!)
Alexandra Hall
Robert Welkner
Michael Thomasson (Game historian; a subject I was thinking about today. How would you teach a video game history course?)
Luke McKinney (GamesRadar writer. I must've heard him on their podcast)
Kevin Steele
Steve Tom Sawyer
Kevin Baird
David Giltinan
William Culver
I"ve heard about this off and on on here and on other sites. I'm not sure about contributing though given my concern over crowdfunding.
I'm with you though on missing the good old days of getting a magazine filled with information. Sure we got the net but there's nothing like getting a GameFan right off the rack! RETRO sounds like my cup of tea though
