I'm going to be reviewing LEGO Marvel Super Heroes in the next couple of weeks.
Quick Hits: Friday I'm In Love

Hey Pixlbit, we are here! It’s Friday, and I have to say the week flew by, but I now want it to slow down since the weekend is almost here. Since it is Friday, it’s time for another Quick Hits blog. In this installment of QH, I want to cover a bunch of random things, but really what else is new, right? So let’s get started
San Diego State Homecoming
This weekend is Homecoming, and I am going to miss it again. Every year around this time I seem to be visiting out of town family and this year is no different. It’s usually a fun time, to catch up with people I haven’t seen in a while, listen to the band, and watch football.
One of my favorite new traditions brought to Montezuma Mesa by that coach in Ann Arbor. This year the game is against rival Fresno State, in the battle for The Oil Can*
*This is a new trophy that was “found” on campus while they were getting a site ready for a new building. Apparently it was from Fresno, so now both schools play for it. Some of the older Alums hate the thing, but I like that both schools are trying to build on what used to be a pretty good rivalry.
GO AZTECS!
Billie Joe Armstrong & Norah Jones?
I think I just happened to stumble upon this on Twitter. At first I thought it was an odd pairing, but after listening to their song, it wasn’t bad, and I’m intrigued about this album. Most likely I’ll pick up a copy
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
So I’m still watching this show, and I have a couple of crackpot theories about what’s going to happen, and how it should be included in the next Avengers film. As for the actual show, it’s just a fun show. It’s not serious, and yes I still think it’s a Warehouse 13 ripoff.
Apple Shows Off Some New Stuff
So I watched Apple show off some new things, and I was dreading them dropping a color version of the iPads.
Instead they release a new thinner model, give it a bad name, and people go nuts. I get the upgrades to the laptops, free apps, and most importantly free OS upgrade
But a thinner iPad with upgraded specs is cool, but it’s not something I’ve been waiting for. Heck I think the iPad Mini is kind of pointless considering the full size iPad does well, the iPhone does well, and the one competitor for the 7 inch tablet is the Nexus 7 (coming for someone who loves Apple Products, the N7 is a better deal). I do need to upgrade my iPad but I can wait a bit.
(Photobucket is being an ass with the picture that goes here. It's of my dock but for some reason it won't upload)
My one gripe with Mavericks is that a couple of my minifig icons are now gone, and I can’t get them back. I miss my Darth Vader Hard Drive icon.
Chris Does Some Organizing
Since Friday’s are the start of the weekend for me, I decided to do some cleaning. I added more empty cases to the under stairs storage
Behind the PS1/Dreamcast cases, there is a wall of PS2 cases, and I added more PS3, Vita, and now 360 cases.
I also bagged up my plastics for recycling.
Last time I had half this much and made around $50, so hopefully with this haul, I’ll have enough for an Ouya…and Hi Pixlbit!
Pickups!
I decided to make a purchase for my avatar, and hot damn little add-ons are pricey.
It was time to get rid of the X-Box jersey and go with AMERICA’S TEAM
So I forgot I preordered Lego Marvel Superheroes and I hit the Walmart (I hate this place) and let’s give you a recap of my experience
Walmart Employee: *talking to a former employee, sees me waiting, and then continues for another two minutes
WE: What did you need?
Me: I’m here to pick up a video game preorder
WE: You get that at layaway *goes back to talking
Me: Ok, thanks
Layaway Desk
WE: What can I do for you?
Me: Hi, I’m here to pickup a video game preorder
WE: Asks around if they have any games on hold, everyone there has no idea. You need to go to Electronics, they have it there
Me: Ok, I was just there, and they sent me here
WE: You need to tell them it’s a game and not a console
Back at Electronics
New Walmart Emoloyee: Can I help you?
Me: Hi, I’m here to pick up a video game preorder *hands my reservation card
NWE: scans it, tries to ring it up, looks at the card like it’s from space, finds someone else
Another Walmart Employee: Ok is the game out?
Me: Yes, it released today
AWE: Ok, grab his game from the case, scan the card, and you’re good to go
NWE: Still puzzled, walks to the case finds the game, and then off we go to the register
NWE: Rings up everything, comes out to $53.XX. Doesn’t say a word.
Me: I think you didn’t scan the card to remove the $5 reservation
NWE: Still looks puzzled. Scans card $48.XX, still doesn’t say a word
Me: Hands over $50 and I bounce.
Oh 15 minutes…I miss you already. This is why I hate Walmart, there is no such thing as good customer service, and knowledgeable employees. I go here when I truly have to, or the sale is too good to pass up.
Anyways here is what I got at Walmart
The top three games were found in the $10 bin right outside of Electronics. I can now take off the digital Mortal Kombat from my Vita, and add another game.
Marvel came in a box that was taller than a typical PS3 case
The main reason why I bought this game from Walmart, instead of hitting Toys R Us, and getting a $15 Gift Card
I like the figure, it completes my Iron Man sets and I could display them, but most likely my 4 year old cousin is going to want to play with them. I need to watch what he does with them because I just found one Batman minifig he “lost”, Slave Girl Leia from Jedi is still MIA.
As for music…
I bought these two off of iTunes on Monday night before they were released on Tuesday. Best Coast can never be found locally which is kind of funny considering they are a California band, but the local Best Buy seems to hate CDs lately. As for Sara Bareilles I normally buy all the physical copies but this time I knew this was a shorter live album, than her previous one and it is $20. At some point down the road I might pick it up, but for now the digital files are fine.
This was the only physical buy was
I can hear the laughing, it’s cool, but Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection wasn’t bad. It was a fun summer pop album, and I thought this would be more of the same. It was hit and miss for me, but one song that stuck out was Birthday (there are lyrics that involve balloons that made me laugh/and say WOW at the same time).
One of the more odd things I’ve found in a Deluxe CD is this.
I’m assuming it’s a plant, and it’ll probably just stay in the CD case.
Well Pixlbit that is another Quick Hits With Chris. It’s back to do some cleaning before I head out for the weekend!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
