Is it November already? It seems like only yesterday I was posting on 1up.com, or early May.
With the new hardware launches approaching soon, I think I've fallen into the category of will pick up games missed on current gen and play catch up. Do we really need new hardware, or do I need new hardware now. The answer is no. I do not.
The fact is, I already have enough games to fill my plate as it is, and if I scheduled out my estimated completion time, I wont be able to play anything new for a few more months, early 2014, so I think I will be waiting until mid 2014 or holiday 2014 for new systems. And I will also be upgrading my PC rig as well, so that will probably come before consoles.
What I've been playing lately is Final Fantasy XIV. After jumping off earlier, I decided to get back in and I've been able to manage my time in a way that it doesn't get in the way of other things and life, as these games tend to do. It's addictive nature by design will sometimes have you glued to your screen for hours without you knowing and it's a little scary, but I've been able to step away or step in for a reasonalbe amount of time to make progress. Plus I like chatting with my guild in IRC anyway and we've started events. There is also housing and PVP coming soon.
The other game I've been playing is Witcher 2. I didn't like this game at launch when I first tried it because the first intro levels felt very directed and I felt it was too consolised for me. I got to chapter one and felt like I'm just going to get more of the same, but I was wrong. The first chapter of the game after the intro prologue is much more open and has lots of NPCs and characters to interact with, and the world of Witcher 2 is very interesting. I saw a post proclaiming Witcher 2 to be the rightful sequel to Dragon Age Origins, and I feel like this is true. As far as I've seen it mirrors that Origins in tone and setting. I only wish I had played into the game more than the intro first time around. I think this game is great. I won't even mention the crafting and farming, it's good. So I will be playing more of this.
Star Wars The Old Republic on iPad. This game has really sold my on tablet gaming. I was skeptical at first, but the game works surprisingly well on the tablet and it's my favorite game on iOS to date. I once thought only card games and indie games worked best on tablet, but now I have seen the light, and I want more tablet games. I would consider an iPad to rival a console in gaming category and compete for my dollars in the future. In short, I love the experience! So I will be playing more of this.
I am reallyh psyched for Zelda on 3DSXL. Did you all see the special edition 3DSXL Zelda! I hope I get it for Xmas!
I've also been playing a bit of Lord of the Rings Online. I just love the lore and that world so much. I love running into the characters and settings from the books and film. The game feels a bit out dated but, still, I can enjoy it. Helm's Deep expansion looks cool.
Fallout 3. I never played this game. I only just started a few weeks ago. Intrigued for sure. I was put off by the graphics and weird combat, but the narrative elements are pulling me along.
Excited for:
Tear Away on Vita. Is it releasing soon?
Zelda Link between worlds
Gran Turismo 6. December right?
Steam holiday sale. It's coming right?
FF X&X-2, and Lightning Returns. Next year right?
