According to the link here Sony's license agreement for PS4 games states that you are not allowed to sell or rent PS4 games without their permission and that you don't actually own the games even if you bought them at retail.
If this is true, then I won't get a PS4.
this might be in the user agreement, but I doubt they'll enforce that. the internet tends to react with force over this stuff, and it would be bad PR for them, especially since they said you could resell and rent. I think Sony is smarter than this, so I think it will be okay. we'll see though. Thanks for the link.
PS3 games (and probably 360 and Wii U games) say that right now too. I just checked on my used copy of Spec Ops. It's just boiler plate that's been around for a long time on software.
Yep I realize that license agreements have had something similar to this in the past. Most people have never paid attention to these things anyway. What it means though is if they wanted to enforce it they could.
Yeah, they can try anyway. They'll have to factor in legal costs for sure. I think it's just lazy legal departments throwing it in there because that's what's "always" been in there. Proving that a consumer knew the agreement said those things before you bought the sealed package would be impossible. If nothing else, it would cause a backlash they shouldn't risk.
The fun thing is, I thought Sony supported the renting and selling of games after watching this:

meh I'm not worried. They all have that kind of wording and we still do what we do with them. Now if they try to enforce it then they can come take my collection by force, after I make bootleg copies of everything that is...
Well hopefully this is nothing more than some of the usual legal jargon that makes up a typical license agreement and not something that would cause major problems, not to mention embarassment, for Sony.
On another note, I saw the XBone today, Damn that thing is huge.lol. It is the same size as the original one.lol.
Just blase legal shizz nothing for us to worry about. It's always been there and always will be.
