Hey guys, want some songs? Sure you do.
A Great Mass of Death - Septic Flesh
The intro of this song sounds like what would happen if you metallified Dark Souls soundtrack. It's epic, it's haunting, and it's scary as fuck. This is some truly evil sounding shit, and may be one of the best metal riffs I've heard in some time.
Step - Vampire Weekend
If that last song was a little too dark for you, have some Vampire Weekend. These guys make wonderfully beautiful indie pop that leans a little on the experimental side and is as catchy as balls.
Solitary One - Paradise Lost
Paradise Lost falls into that weird group of metal bands like Katatonia and Anathema who used to make extreme metal, and then sort of stopped and tried other thing. Anathema went on to make beautiful alternative/progressive rock, Katatonia started making softer goth rock with some metal thrown in here and there, and Paradise Lost made electronica for some reason. Well, they came back with a vengeance in their last couple of albums, and while the growls are gone, their music is still heavy and atmospheric. Also, they haven't lost their nack for synths, and you'll hear quite a bit of keyboard action on this song.
Thin Air - Anathema
Speaking of, here's Anathema. Hard to believe they were ever an extreme metal act right? Well, they were, and they were damn good. They're still damn good, just a different kind of good. This is the heaviest song on the album btw. At least this has some distorted guitar...
Delicate Cycle - The Uncluded
Well shit. Experimental rapper Aesop Rock teamed up with sugary indie pop queen of darkness Kimya Dawson. The result is a little weird overall, but results in some really interesting songs. Hope you like it.
