What is better than a brand new PS4? (it's Zelda)

As you know by now I recently acquired a PS4. I have not sat down to truly enjoy it since the day that I set it up. Life has gotten in the way. Between countless errands, Thanksgiving, a Lakefront Brewery tour, the in-laws and a super slow-draining tub I found myself with little time for myself. Whenever I did find time for myself, other things got in the way.

I had big hopes for Thanksgiving weekend this year. I had a brand new PS4, an extra controller, Call of Duty Ghosts and a brother. I had all the ingredients for a weekend full of videogame bliss(or as close as I can manage without Halo). As it so happens, my brother and I did not play a single round of multiplayer the entire weekend. We were both far too busy playing A Link Between Worlds. My 3DS had to be charged numerous times throughout the weekend because it was always on. If I was not playing it, my brother was. He ended up finishing the game because he is a college student and is used to staying up past 10pm. I did not, but I am closing in on the final couple of dungeons.

While I may try to claim that I did not touch my PS4 because of a busy holiday weekend, the real reason is Zelda. A Link Between Worlds is one of the best games that I have played this year, and I have played some pretty darn good games this year. In fact, it may be the best. Yes, Nintendo is playing off of my nostalgia, but it works.

Now, I have played the demo, but not the full game for Shadow of the Colossus. So this comment could be completely incorrect. From what I remember is that in SotC you can tackle the Colossus in any order. This is exactly how A Link Between Worlds is. You are given the markers on the map as to what dungeons need to be completed, but you can finish them in whatever order you would like. The freedom that you are given in this game is immensely satisfying. I cannot wait for a 3D Zelda that uses this setup.

If there is only one thing that you take away from my ramblings it should be this... Play A Link Between Worlds and play it right now. If you are a big fan of ALttP, then why the hell don't you have a copy already?

I'm really pumped for this game.  I plan on getting it sometime next month.  I might even forego getteing the strategy guide this time.

Yes, do forgo getting the strategy guide.  It just gives you more of a reason to come back and play the game again and again and again.

I'm been wanting a 3DS for a long while, but this is the game that finally made me break down and buy one.  A Link to the Past is one of my favorite games of all time and the thought of a sequel just made me too excited.  I ordered it on black friday, and I should have it in a couple days.  I can't wait!

This is probably the one game that pushed me over the edge as far as picking up a 3DS.  I had to have it, and if I had not already gotten a 3DS earlier this year, I would have definitely picked one up by now.

If only Nintendo would release A Link to the Past on the 3DS, then I would be truly happy.  That and the Metroid games.  And Super Mario World.  And Yoshi's Island.

I'm really loving Link Between Worlds also. The controls are just so smooth and satisfying, and I am really loving the dungeons, overworld, and especially setup of this one. Easily my favorite Zelda since Minish Cap.

I have not played Minish Cap yet.  I am not quite sure why, especially since it seems like my kind of Zelda game.

My funds are kind of low at the moment, but as soon as that's not the case I'll be sure to snag a copy of this game for myself.

The new 3DS Zelda is very good.

There's just not enough games to warrant purchasing a PS4 right now for me.

I will not disagree with that.  March is when I probably should have picked up a PS4.

The dungeon design is ingenous.  I love how they made them vertical.  The Tower of Hera is like 13 levels high, I love it.

I will first play the original A Link to the Past and then i'll tackle this one. Though the thing is, i'm more concentrated in getting a Wii U and playing Wind Waker first. I just have a big urge to play that one.

Then enjoy Windwaker, just be sure to come back to ALttP and ALBW.

Ive been playing Wind Waker and its has me trapped in its web of intrigue and interest. I am working on my third dungeon in the game and have enjoyed it soo far. I plan to get the new 3DS zelda though, I know severaly people who are playing the hell out of it right now. Congrats on getting a PS4!

My birthday is later this month, so between that and Christmas someone might give it to. But failing that I'll have birthday money and A Link Between Worlds is at the top of my list.

Yeah, the PS4 didn't stand a chance Tongue Out
