Tearaway is Incredible

Sorry its been awhile since I blogged (not that you really care). I been really contemplating what to do for a youtube channel and other means to have something on the internet to talk about games. With that said, there is a lot I want to talk about but simply will make this a somewhat review. I don't really do reviews that often but Tearaway is so great. I say simply go out and buy it if you have a Vita and its Vita's killer app. If there was one game to own a Vita for, this simply would be it.

 tearaway

What makes Tearaway so good? It uses everything the Vita has from the back touch, speaker, camera, and the gyro gizmos. People always talk about creative new games and original titles being so important and not wanting more of the same thing. Im not going to go full blown in what the story is about but your delivering a message and each area you do come across plays out in multiple little stories as levels. There is an overall theme and that is your journey. With that said, the ending is one of the best I have ever experienced. It is somewhat moving and very charming.

The game as a whole is charming though. Not only is the gameplay unique but everything being paper gives it a unique style and its beautiful technically and creatively. Many people have came across me while playing it at work and they are amazed by this title and the little things that you do within it. You can even print out paper to make actual things you have done within the game and use those pieces to change up your character's look. With that said, there is a lot of collecting of pieces that you buy and different lenses and such. The camera you use within the game is integral to the gameplay as well as the game being centered around platforming elements, and a lot of puzzle elements. This is a brilliant game. It has the charm and style of games like LittleBIGPlanet, LocoRoco, and Patapon. It is a must play.

SIDE NOTE: The VGXAwards were lame. I was expecting more world premieres. If it wasn't for Telltales, there wouldn't been much of anything new and with that, Game of Thrones was already leaked.

I've never seen this game in action, but Teraway reminds me of Little Big Planet, based on the screenshots.

Also, I never bother with video game awards. I think it just BS anyway.

Jamie! Its great to see you on blog of mine. Its been so long. Tearaway is very different than LittlBigPlanet but shares a lot of the same charm and creativity in designing a unique game. Now as for the award show, I didnt care bout the awards but was hoping for some huge game announcements.

I'm asking for this one odor Christmas. Heard too many good things. VGX was awful save No Man's Sky, which looks great.

I hope No Man's Sky comes onto the PSN or XBL. It does seem very awesome and really ambitiious. It would be awesome to see people play that and watch their Live Feed and see what others are doing and where they are exploring.

Vita...she's always flashing her tits and giving me a boner. Such a tease!

Its too bad there isn't more on the Vita. I can't name anything else right now I want on the Vita. Its going to be my indie machine but I am happy with that.

I don't have littlebigplanet on the Vita but I do have Persona 4: Golden and both Rayman games. I love the handheld device. I feel connected to my PS3/PS4 wherever I go since I can contribute to my trophies and such while playing my Vita.

"not that you really care", that kind of hurts my feelings. Frown

I hadn't heard or read anything about Tearaway or maybe I just hadn't noticed.  Sounds like a cool game.  I'll put it on my To Get list.

I never liked videogame award shows.  I don't understand why we should even have them.  They only thing people really want to see are the upcoming videogame trailers.  I understand some developers should be recognized for doing their thing, but even they seem to be confused to wants going on or why they're there.  I'm sure they'd rather someone just cut them a nice check.  They could just get that in the mail.  At least that's what I'd want if I created an awesome game. Laughing

Keep me posted on that youtube channel. Cool

Happy to know you do care! :)

I think an award show could be great if done right. There is a lot of potential. They had something by getting away from all the celebrities but then you had that McHale dude who was a douchebag. He made lame jokes, had bad chemistry with Geoff, and always interrupted. I watch it though for the world premieres and it was sad. I was really expecting something huge from Nintendo. The announcement of Cranky Kong is a joke.

I read a little review about the show and it mentioned how bad the Mchale guys was.  I don't understand why Geoff Keighley doesn't host the shows himself.  Won't find anyone more fit for the job.

Yeah, Geoff is knowledable and asks questions that us gamers want to know but that other dude was acting like he didn't want to be there. He always commented negatively about how long they are going to be on air. He made fun of gamers. He even kept commenting on Geoff wearing his jacket for some odd reasons. That guy had no place being on air. I think Geoff could do well all by himself.

VGAs or whatever they're called now have always had hosts that didn't belong.  The worst ones are those that make jokes about gamers.

How come you're not streaming on PS4? It seems quite a few people are, mostly COD Ghosts, and KIllzone. It would be interesting to see a PS4 stream with commentary, but there really aren't a lot of PS4 games to talk about yet I guess.

This Tearaway being a neglected step-child argument has been brought up on a few blogs and podcasts, and it's true. It seems it should be marketed by Sony better, like they did with Little Big Planet. I will put this game on a priority list and play it soon.

Also, a lot of people with youtube channels aren't very knowledgable about games, but I think you would be different. Knowledgable gamers who stream are more interesting to watch in my opinion. Good luck with it.

Streaming on PS4? That would be hard to sustain with people since people go on it randomly. I saw plenty of hilarous things on peoples' live feeds. I think its underrated how cool and awesome of a feature it is. I think right now as you say, quantity of games is the problem. I mentioned it to someone today how in the future it can have so much variety and will be a good tool for people to decide what games they want to buy.

As for knowledge, I went to Gamestop to get Tearaway which is actually the only time I been in years since I pretty much exclusively by on Amazon. Anyway, the guy asked me for what system. I was like 'what!? Its only on the Vita." He said no its not. We had an argument. The other employee said yeah, I think its only on the Vita but he was convinced otherwise. I was just blown away. They didn't even have a copy of the game. I went to Wal-Mart and bought it.

I used to mainly go to Gamestop to buy old PS2 and PSP games. For new releases, it's usually Amazon, Walmart or Target. I remember buying Guild Wars 2 last year, at Gamestop, and the "knowledgable" staff were trying to get me to play WoW instead. It had a new patch or something. Yeah, they were trashing their own merchandise in front of the customer. Derp. Guild Wars 2 is still awesome, sub. free and I still play it.

My favorite part of PS4 streaming is the talkshows, which stream on twitch, but twitch ended that. It was wierd and cool. Except for the rapey part.

Is Tearaway only for Vita, or for PS3, too?  I don't have a Vita.

I like to make my own awards shows!

Cary, this game is one you would really really like. Its only for the Vita.

It's made by MM the same developers that brought us LittleBigPlanet. It has to be awesome. I wish they would make a PSN version somehow.

Keegs79

12/09/2013 at 06:59 PM

Yeah, MM are on a row. They are incredibly talented. Its not on the PSN. I can see something like it coming on the PSN for the PS4 using the controller's touchpad but it would also need to use the playstation camera. It uses every feature of the Vita. The camera is constanly used as your face as the sun. You take pictures and of various things in real life and there is a lense to take real world pictures freely to use within Tearaway's world.
