.... and my final verdict is.... it is well worth playing if you find the HD collection on the cheap.

After the glitch jumping between apartment buildings nothing else significantly bad happened. The HD doesn't really add much and the decision to remove the fog in some areas makes no sense at all. Those are small things if you've never played through this story before.

I was surprised that even after playing through the game a couple of times a few years back I still got lost and had to backtrack to pick up stuff I'd missed.

I've started playing Silent Hill 3 now. It seems somehow different from what I remember. For one thing it is harder than SH 2. Where I had no difficulty with enemies in 2 I'm finding the monsters harder to kill in 3.

That could be because all I have is a knife. I emptied a whole clip from my handgun into one of the split head dogs before he would lie down like a good boy. I have no more bullets so now I'm just running away from monsters

I'll report back once I get further in.

That's good to know, maybe I'll add it to my mental list of games 'I'd get if I had the money and time, but mostly money'.

If you haven't played them in any other form go for it. The stories and atmosphere are still intact and that's a good thing.

I should play a Silent Hill game one of these days. I played a Silent Hill 3 demo from a PSM disc that scared the crap out of me, and I've seen my brother play parts of the first couple, but I just wasn't old or interested enough when they all came out to play the real games myself. It does sound like an interesting series.

Too bad the HD doesn't add much. I've been watching the Game Grumps play Wind Waker HD in 1080p on my laptop, and it initialy looked amazing, but now I'm like "I'm fine with my Gamecube version."

The Silent Hill HD Collection, did you get it for the Xbox 360? From what I understand, its still goes unpatched where the PS3 version got one. After playing the HD version of Silent Hill 2 before and after the patch; it certainly made a world of a difference in quality.

You don't waste your entire clip at an enemy, you use the bullets to knock it down, run towards it and start kicking it while it is down.

I got the PS3 version. There seemed to be more glitches towards the beginning of the game put the only killer one was the entire background disappearing as you jumped from one apartment building to the other and that only happened to me once.

I'm trigger happy, what can I say. :)

That's because Silent Hill 3 wanted to encourage you run rather than fight in a lot of instances. Ah, fond memories of that game.

I love SH3 but playing it back to back with 2 I really noticed the difference. The only part of 3 that always pisses me off is the escaping from the haunted house bit.

My thoughts exactly on the HD collection. I woudln't have paid full price anyway given that they neglected to add SH 4 to the mix. I'll get it eventually but for now I'll treasure my PS2 copies of SH 2 and 3 upscaled on my PS3.

I may pick it up it if I can find in really really cheap.

This might be an Amazon venture in the near future. SH2 is still an experience unlike anything else - I don't think any other game I've played conjures up the feelings of hopelessness that it embodies. It's like I need to hurry up and play some Yoshi's Island to lighten the mood after lol!

I agree about the hopelessness and I like the way your reaction to that hopelessness affect the ending you get. I think I'll try for the dog ending next time.
