I'm in the last dungeon of Ys: Memories of Celceta. I like it a lot, but it is like JRPG-lite in some ways. It's good though.
Other than that I haven't been playing much, just trying to finish that before next week.

Games I Beat:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
This was a fun game. I hadn't had this much fun in a Zelda game in a long time. I really enjoyed the game, but it's not without it's issues. It was nice to be back in A Link to the Past's world. It wasn't much different than the last time I visited, which was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe it's just me, but I was hoping for the world to be bigger. More places to visit and plenty of people to be around. I was hoping the game world would be more lively. More active. I also didn't like the change with most items using the magic gauge instend of just collecting items off defeated enemies. The one thing that frustrated me the most was trying to aim the items that could fire/shoot. It was a pain to target moving objects and aiming at something while an enemy was attacking. I also thought the game was a bit too easy. It was nice to have access to the special items early in the game, but to me, it cheappened the experience. Since they got rid of collecting items from fallen enemies, you got mostly money. I raised money so quickly, I just bought my special items outright. I didn't see the point in renting items when I had so much money.
Games I'm Playing:
Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)
It took a bit of playing, but I'm finally starting to enjoy this game. In the beginning, I was a bit disinterested in the combat system. I still think it's overcomplicated. I'm not a big fan of items that deteriorate and having a party so huge that I have to switch people in and out. I'm more than 12 hrs in. I have a solid 10 fighters that I use in most battles. Six of them are tough as nails. I'll probably wrap this game up over the weekend.
Dragon's Crown (PS3)
I have a few hours into the game and completed a couple quests. I think I'll continue playing it. Right now it's too early to tell.
That's all I have for now. I'm buying up games from the after Christmas sales that have popped up. I plan to include them in my Game Purchases of 2013 blog. Every year I try buying fewer games because I have little time to play them. I'm not sure how I did with my physical games, but I already know I bought too many digital games. And I kind of hate spending money on digital games. Anyway, I have that blog up at the end of the month or at the beginning of next month.
What games are you playing?
Just got FIre Emblem on sale at Best Buy myself and am looking forward to giving it a shot.
Since you asked, I'm trying to finally wrap up Etrian Odyssey: Untold and dabbling in Battlefield 4 and a few other things here and there -- for review and not.
A Link Between Worlds looks great to me, but I won't buy the game till I get and finish the original A Link to the Past.
As for games i'm playing, I played a bit of the first Phoenix Wright game few days ago. No wonder why Greenman likes the game so much, it's really very interesting and entertaining.
A Link Between Worlds is a good game. IMO, A Link to the Past is still better. I played LotP not that long ago and I still have a great time with it. It's also a more challenging game.
I have the first Phoenix Wright. I played it for a while before I quit. I couldn't really get into it. A lot of people love the series. I'm willing to give it another shot.
Yeah, I think there should be more too it. As nice as it looks, the combat system is just button mashing and the characters are stiff and move a bit slow. The story isn't that interesting either. Another thing that annoys me is that weapons/items deteriorate and you have to spend money to fix them. You also spend money to have them appraised so that you can use them. I hadn't had time to play the game lately, but when I get back to it, I could completely change my mind about it. The leveling system seems to get deeper, so if I level up a bit, this whole game could turn for the better.
I agree, A Link Between Worlds was a little on the easier side. The one nice thing is that they did include the Hero Mode... enemies deal 4 times the damage as normal. Or something like that.
As far as Fire Emblem... I agree about both the large selection of party members and items that deteriorate. The nice thing is that you know exactly how many turns you have left with each item. I just made sure that I had at least one extra of that weapon in my characters inventory just in case.
It seems like Nintendo is making their games easier and easier these days. There's a White Tanooki suit in Mario 3D World that makes you invincible for the whole level. I wish I could play Link Between Worlds, but alas... no 3DS. Ah well. There's always Link to the Past to go back to over and over.
sounds like Zelda is a winner. thinking about getting that game for my bro as a late Xmas gift since I've learned he now owns a 3DS.
Gamer rule #345: There is no such thing as too many games. Just because you have yet to play them doesn't mean you will eventually. I too plan to go game shopping in a couple of days with some of the SXmas money I got. I'm also thinking about getting Mass Effect finally even though I'm not getting too much into it with the first game.
I don't know.... I think I have too many. At least I'm making more of an effort to play more games.
Mass Effect 1 is my favorite game. I played it more than any other game this, last year, and the year before that. I had make myself stop playing it so I could play other games. I hadn't played it in months and I'm missing it. Many people like Mass Effect 2 more. I love it too, but not as much as ME1.
