Hey Pixlbit and former 1uppers! I figure an introduction is necessary for those who aren't familiar with me or even just forgot about me. For those who did forget, well you're really mean! But it's understandable. My time at 1up was sporadic to say the least. And for those still unsure, yes, I'm just that one girl who really wanted Xenoblade and made those neat Modnation Racers creations. Now that I've got the only two memorable details about me out of the way I believe it's time for me to begin my fresh start here at Pixlbit.

Just like everyone else here, I'm a long time gamer and I won't even try to pretend that's anything special. I play a bit of every genre here and there and my initial love for platformers is what originally got me hooked to gaming. Of course, my particular forte would without a doubt be RPGs. I can safely say that I owe that to my overall favorite series, Final Fantasy. Strangely enough, I've noticed a trend that many other girls share the same love for Final Fantasy. I wonder why.

Oh. Brooding and impossibly pretty boys. That's right.

In the past year or so I've found a renewed love strictly for Japanese role playing games despite the drought of them in the current generation. I think it began with my first play-through of Persona 3 Portable. I was absolutely addicted, mostly because of the option to date fictional anime boys but that's beside the point. Anyway, this led me to hooking up my PS2 again and tracking down more JRPGs that I had missed. Somehow this still wasn't enough for my insatiable hunger for more and I found myself playing critically shunned games such as Ar Tonelico Qoga and Hyperdimension Neptunia. And I thoroughly enjoyed them.

My recent love for nearly any Japanese game, no matter how niche or bizarre (and considered creepy by some), has led to my current journey of studying the Japanese language. My skills are still very basic but I hope to reach a point where I can import games and comfortably understand what's going on. So if Final Fantasy Type-0 never makes a western debut, no problem! Also, I'm positive that Conception: Please Have my Children will never see the light of day here and I absolutely must play that one. I admit, my particular taste is a little strange.

It's not as creepy as it sounds! Really!

Well, I believe this sufficiently gives a rough idea of my current gaming interests and what to expect from me here in the future. Or it probably doesn't and you're wondering what on earth I've been babbling about. Either way, you'll just have to wait and see with my upcoming blogs. I can't promise I'll be around to write too often since that just went so well at 1up. But I'm considering this a new start and I'll try my best to be more active this time. Thanks for reading all that rubbish, I promise to occasionally be here to read your blogs and comment!

I'm very interested to hear about Japanese games the rest of us don't even try.  Some of them sound pretty nuts on the outside, but I always assume it's how normal people still think of Grand Theft Auto as the game where you kill whores for extra points.

chocobot

I'm glad to see someone interested in the kind of games I plan to write about. I doubt I can convince anyone certain games out there aren't crazy, but that's just part of their charm.

Let me know how Senran Kagura is, the previews for that one had me intrigued too.

And I don't think I'm equipped to have children with another woman :P

I like Final Fantasy, too, but I'm more of a fan of the old school stuff.

If you like JRPGs, I'd like to recommend Ni no Kuni to you.  I've been really enjoying it.

chocobot

I'm already playing and really enjoying Ni no Kuni! It's a really fantastic game :D

I always liked you contributions on 1UP and was happy when I saw you on here. So far the "movement of jah people" is going very well.

I'm a fan of quirky Japanese games (at least the ones that have made it here)

I loved Persona 3 and 4 but frankly P3 portable was a disappointment after playing the PS2 original and then all over again for FES. I just couldn't get into the point and click that replaced the ability to run around the environments freely.

I guess it did have an advantage in the ability to play as a female protagonist but that just, er, well, doesn't do it for me. :)

03/02/2013 at 02:04 AM

Thanks, it's really encouraging seeing people genuinely enjoyed my blogs at 1up.

I understand P3P feeling underwhelming when compared to its PS2 counterpart. But for me they more than made up for the scaled down interface by including a female route. I really hope Persona 5 has the same option.

I just hope there is a P5, and soon.

Hey chocobot, good to see you jump over. You're right, we are suffering from a J-rpg drought of sorts which makes me happy I still have my PS2. There was a good otaku community on 1up (Though they were occasionally singled out and picked on) and luckily most of them have come over here too!

chocobot

03/02/2013 at 01:57 AM

Indeed, I fit right in with so many other JRPG lovers here. And even those with different taste aren't too judgemental or jerks about it.

hey glad to see another 1upper here. I love JRPG's too, but it's not because of the brooding pretty boys.  Wink  I don't know why I like them, I just do.

Looking forward to reading your stuff.

chocobot

03/02/2013 at 01:48 AM

LOL I don't just love jrpgs for the pretty boys, really :P

I also look forward to reading your stuff, I don't know how you write quality blogs so often. It's really impressive!

The more 1 upper the better and since all of us refugees are fleeing to pixlbit I do beleive an introduction is in order im leeradical42 or Rodney and probable the oldest 1 upper to be here at a whopping 47 but any way im very passionate about my gaming and love to discuss games and im what I call a professional rpg slash strategy gamer after all I have been playing since before most of you were born well any way glad your here and all gamers are welcome here im just partial to our close knit family at 1 up.

Hi Rodney, I look forward to seeing your insight on RPGs and strategy games here. And the 1up community is like one big family, huh? :D

Nice to meet you. =-) Final Fantasy is still my favorite series because of all the good memories. Plus releases like Theatrythm and FF Dimensions are coolios to me! I really wish they would release Type-0 on the PSN store for the fans, but I realize the reality of it as well. In the meantime, I'm crossing my fingers for a Vita port down the line. I would go out and buy one today if that were to happen lol.

chocobot

03/02/2013 at 01:36 AM

Yep nothing will beat the memories I have with past Final Fantasy games. I don't mind the current ones either, they may not have the same magic as they used to but they've still been fun and pretty good games. I'm also still hopeful for some sort of Type-0 release but who knows at this point.

Hello!

Sonic got me into gaming but Street Fighter II Turbo on my brother SNES  is what made me fall in love with thw medium, i;ve played some JRPGs in youth but didn't get into them till my mid teens where i decided to invest my time in the stories. Foot in Mouth

I'm, a causious guy, i like new gaming experinces but the stuff that out there? I need to be pushed like with the Metal Gear series.Smile

FF might be ny favourite series but after playing Xenoblade and the Last Story they've moved down, Mario & Luigi games are something special though Cool

I'm trying to play through the Shin Megami Tensei Games but they're either too long or too many Tongue Out

chocobot

03/02/2013 at 01:33 AM

Sonic is also where gaming for me began! I'll always have a soft spot for the blue critter. And don't give up on the Shin Megami Tensei series, they're well worth the time.

Conception looks like the kind of game that would only come from Japan. I like it!

Exactly! Gotta love the crazy ideas that can only come from Japan.

Conception: Please Have My Children - I'm guessing the title is pretty self explanatory?  Dating game?

chocobot

03/02/2013 at 01:53 AM

Well there are certainly strong dating elements and your kids hatch out of eggs and fight along with you so it's really all pretty silly. Crazy concepts like that just really amuse me.

03/02/2013 at 02:37 PM

Hey chocobot. I have always enjoyed your blogs. I guess we don't really share a similar taste in games, but we do seem to play some of the same ones every now and then. Your blogs usually tell me about some I wouldn't know much about otherwise which is good.

chocobot

03/02/2013 at 03:21 PM

While jrpgs are my current obsession I think I still play a pretty decent variety of types of games. Sometimes... Well either way I think you have great taste in games, Trip. And thanks for reading my blogs :)

Beerfan

03/02/2013 at 08:41 PM

Welcome.  I look forward to reading more of your blogs.  Jrpg's are my favorite as well.  This gen was a bit lacking, but we did get several good Tales games, along with Xenoblade and The Last Story.

chocobot

03/04/2013 at 03:53 AM

This gen actually introduced me to the Tales series, so that's a plus! I'd honestly never even heard of them last gen when there were jrpgs aplenty, but now they've become some of my favorite games.

Seems like this site has a lot of familiar people. Which is awesome. Nice to know when a door closes, another one opens. Now if only that would apply to Attack Of The Show. I watched it every day, along with many other gamers. Even though it was about more than just games. There has to be a market for that type of program. Maybe someone from this site will start a show! Hey,it could happen.......

GeminiMan78

03/06/2013 at 09:31 PM

JRPG'S! Yeah the PS1 & PS2 were over flowing with them. Seems like they are all either drifting more into action like FF13 or the Tales games, or straight up strat games like Disgea. Where in the world is Persona 5 already? Anyway glad to meet another ex 1uper and JRPG afficianado. Laters!

chocobot

03/09/2013 at 02:02 AM

Nice to meet you too! Yes, jrpgs are few and far between these days so I play whatever I can. And I agree, the wait for Persona 5 is almost painful D:
