Blog Delay

My day was busier than I expected, and I am running on very little sleep. At least my dentist complimented me on my flossing and brushing though, so that appointment went a lot quicker than usual, since my teeth were already pretty well taken care of before going in. It was nice hearing praise and seeing smiling faces after having just come from a fairly tense car ride with my mom. I love her, but she drives me up a damn wall sometimes.

I also helped her go shopping for my older brother's Christmas gifts (she's his Santa this year). I did not expect for black leather dress gloves to be the rarest of Pokemon around this time of year, but here we are. We did finally find a pair at JC Penny, which was literally the last one of its kind on the racks. After attempting to find a camera to smile at while I hoisted the gloves, since I pretty much felt like Link after finding a mint-condition Fleshlight in a treasure chest, I tried them on to make sure they fit my hands, since my brother and I have similar-sized hands. There was a bit of space in the fingers, but my mom and I basically just looked at each other and said, “Fuck it, he can return them if he doesn't like them. It will save someone's life today when we don't kill them for driving like assholes. We'll let it go because we accomplished shit today, so we can go home and rest for a while in our Hobbit holes.”

Of course, there was another unexpected errand after that when my car's crappy power steering proved too much for my mom to handle, so I drove her to pick her car up once they finished fixing the driver's side window. But the point is, finding those damn gloves was like being finished with the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time. Fuck that drudgery; minus the Shadow Link, which JC Penny does not have in stock; but it feels great when you're done with it.

Did I mention I have had very little sleep?

And that is the story of how my “23 in 2013: A Golden Year in Review” blog got delayed until tomorrow. Which is today. Also, I tried to read Mockingjay, but I am too damn tired and have literally gotten roughly 6 hours of sleep in the last 72, so I've replaced it with a different thing on my list of 23 things I remember from this year of my Golden Birthday. I'm currently on #5 which incidentally is the most important thing on the list, so it should be easier to write from there. I'm going to sleep on it before I start hallucinating, though.

Right before I do, I'm going to buy Tomb Raider on Steam for $10. I don't have the recommended video card something or other, but I do meet all the requirements and recommendations otherwise. Still, since it might not run as smoothly as it could, I'm paying for it with a gift card I got last year. Would have preferred a demo first, but I've decided I don't lose anything by buying it with a gift card, so I'm getting in on the sale.

See you soon, Pixlbit.

I just watched some more footage of Tomb Raider from the VGX Awards show site. That game gives me chills now every time I see it. It looks fantastic!

Hopefully, it'll look good on my laptop, despite having only the minimum video card req.

I bought Tomb Raider but haven't had the chance to try it yet.  I'm excited to check it out, honestly, but I never played the old ones.

Beware of Shadow Link!

Shadow Link probably stole all the mens' gloves from other stores. Bastard.

I've got Tomb Raider from PSN. I've only played the beginning but it's full of QTEs

Yeah. I'm aware of the criticisms, but it's a game people like that I've been interested in, plus $10 and I paid for it with a gift card. So I'm not really bothered by QTES. lol

Adventures in Christmas Mall SHopping! I give you an award for going anywhere near a mall at the tail-end of Christmas shopping!

I really enjoyed Tomb Raider up to the next to the last level where I'm stuck. Yes, the beginning is full of QTEs, but they get fewer as the game progresses. I really liked exploring the levels after I'd cleared them of enemies. Lots to find.

Well, I'm getting my 360 controller today, so that'll be a good way to test its responsiveness with those QTEs, I suppose. I'll figure it out. lol

And we didn't shop in a mall, per se, but Cedar Hill does have a lot of stores on its sidewalks, so I guess you could kind of consider it an outdoor shopping mall, maybe? Either way, it sucked, and next year I'll be making everyone promise to have Christmas lists in by early November. I think I said that last year too, though, so I guess really we'll just have to play GTA: Mall Edition next time.

You should ALWAYS thrust the hard to find item up in the air like link. I do it all the time whenever I'm shopping for something hard to find. I even have the added bonus of playing that particular zelda tune on my phone as I do the action for maximum efffect.

....Yeah I know.

I feel you when it comes to blog delays. i was suppose to get back into blogging but got hit with a virual sickness that's taken me almost two weeks to fight off. I'll get back on track soon enough which I'm sure you have.

Haha I might download that ring tone for my phone, just in case.

Holy crap, I'm sorry to hear about your viral sickness, I believe that's what I had. That is not fun. I hope you come back strong.
