Quick Steam Question

After some little problems, I finally managed to log-in Steam on my new laptop, but to play the games I need to install Steam on my laptop. Just so I don't make a mistake or something, do you need to create a new acount to have Steam installed on another computer or can you install the system on a new computer with your existing account? Is there any other process or detail i'm missing? Any tip or guide would be of big help.

Also off-topic: Merry Christmas Everybody! Hope you all have a great new year.

Im pretty certain that the Steam software installed on my MacBook is using the same account on my Windows PC.

Im assuming that you logged into Steam on your laptop via the website, and not the software. If that's the case, you probably need to install the software on your laptop and login through there, and not a webpage.

I suggest going through FAQs on Steam itself. Good luck. Cool

Thanks. I think I finally got the hang of it and I'm going to try installing Steam on my laptop right now.

You can use the same account, you just need to go through the security process when using a new computer to access it. It'll just email you a code and you just cut and paste it to get it going.

Though I think you're meaning the log-in to the site without installing (which I already did), I can't be sure, so i'm going to try isntalling Steam right now.

Use the same account. It would be shit if you had to use a new account, because your games are linked to your account and you can play them on any computer.

Good to know.

You can use the same account. I had my same account on another computer before switching to this one. Just need to have your log-in information handy or be able to sign in to the e-mail you have on file with Steam, so that they can send you new information to log in with. Like Blake said, since it's the licenses to these games you own, and those are linked to your account, it would be quite shitty if Steam did not allow for you to use the same account on different computers. Just be aware there is some extra information to fill in, since Steam will recognize that you are trying to log in with a different computer. It's a bit tedious, but I'm fine with sacrificing a bit of time to keep my account secure, personally.

Feliz Navidad, Alex!

Okay, good to know. I have no problem of sacrificong a bit of time to have Steam installed again.

Anyway, Feliz Navidad Joe!

Merry Christmas Alex! I hope you can figure Steam out. I was wondering how that would work too since I've only had it installed on this computer. Man... that would suck so bad if you couldn't transfer your account.

Merry Christmas Aaron!

Don't worry, I finally finished with my Steam problem and as it turns out, yes, you can transfer your acount to another computer.

you got me/ I'm just lucky I was able to log in, add you as a friend on Steam and join the pixlbit steam group. Still don't know how I pulled that off.

The same way I manage to beat puzzles in Portal..... meaning that I don't know how the hell I managed to pull that off.

Okay, maybe that analogy doesn't make sence.
