Man, I've got to get to that game! I just haven't had enough time to play it yet even though I bought it day-one.

Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)
Well, if you’ve been reading my blog posts, you’d see a pattern emerging regarding a preferred taste for portable gaming. Sure enough, my next favorite game is not too far off from my last choice which was a JRPG (Ni No Kuni).
Fire Emblem has been a long running series on Nintendo systems spanning many consoles, which I had until recently only just dabbled with.
The newer accessibility options (Easy Mode) and presentation found in the latest release from the series, Fire Emblem: Awakening, has made it much easier for newcomers to get into the game than in the past. Gorgeous 3D cut scenes, orchestrated soundtrack, 3D gameplay, customizable parties and weapons make the sometimes challenging maps of this strategy JRPG worth a second, third and fourth attempts much more palatable.
If you want a harder challenge, try a mode with perma-death turned on and see how far into the game you can make it with all of your units. You can also travel a world map and try optional battles if you feel the need to take a break from the main story line. This game manages to both, add something new for old school fans and for new players alike. My 3DS sat on my desk for a long time, because I wanted to keep this game close by.
Conclusion: A new old game that isn’t afraid to challenge new players.
