Breaking News! Missing blogger found alive, clutching new Vita

That's right folks, I'm not dead. December has just been a crazy month. The biggest time sink was work. The first three week of the month were all 60-hour weeks for me, which didn't leave me a lot of time for family and Christmas festivities, let alone blogging. I'm going to try to catch up on what I've missed, but there are so many blogs to read at this point that I might just have to start fresh. We'll see.

Missing In Action

Disclaimer: I am not actually Chuck Norris. Please don't roundhouse kick me, Mr. Norris.

But Christmas! I got a few games, which you can see in my December recap blog later this week, but the big news for me was getting a PlayStation Vita. No one gave me one but I did get an unusual amount of money this year as well as a couple GameStop giftcards. I was pondering all the cool things I could get but my wife suggested buying a Vita and I thought that was a great idea. It was probably the only chance I'd have for the next two or three years to get one and I already have a bunch of Vita games thanks to PS+. So I took the plunge. Yesterday I started Gravity Rush and that is a pretty awesome game Laughing

That's about all that's happening right now though. I'm hoping to get back to regular blogging this week. I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! It's good to be back.

Where do you work that you had 60-hour weeks? That sounds rough, but at least you made money, and congratulations on the Vita! Gravity Rush looks like a cool game.

Welcome back! And don't worry, a part-time job and graduate school were enough to keep me away for longer than your crazy schedule, and I probably spent more time worrying than actually working, so I think you have the better excuse. lol

I work for Amazon, so you can just imagine how busy the holiday time of year is. And good luck with that grad work! I know that can't be easy.

Yeah, it was at least difficult enough for me to write a giant end-of-year blog because it cracked my mind, but to be honest, a lot of it was self-inflicted in retrospect.

And yes, I can imagine you'd be busy. Oddly enough, this seems to be a slow time for my dad, but then he works in pharmaceudical delivery, so that's a bit different than gifting. lol

I imagine those backed-up orders on UPS' part didn't help much. Glad you're still alive.

Welcome back Philip! I knew you wasn't dead though since I noticed you updating your status on the Backloggery. A few new games indeed lol. Congrats on the new Vita!

Thanks! I try to keep some consistency and I know if I fall behind on my backloggery, I'll never catch back up lol

I just finished Tearaway.  It was amazing and probably my favourite game of the year.  That is saying a lot because of my love of A Link Between Worlds.

Tearaway looks really neat. I hope it comes to PS+ sometime soon. It is a Sony game, after all, and I have plenty to keep me busy for now. Definitely want to get it though.

The sad thing about getting the Vita is that I didn't have money to get A Link Between Worlds. It's a lot easier to work that game into the budget, though, than getting a new system.

Tearaway was just on sale on the PSN for half off.  I wasn't planning on getting it, but at that price I had to jump on it.

One of the things that I did love about Tearaway was that they kept introducing new mechanics and abilities throughout the game.  It was nearly everything that I wanted in a platformer.  I actually don't feel quite so bad not having a Wii U and SM3DW anymore.

I'm normally a stickler for physical copies but so far all of my Vita games are digital, so I don't see that being an issue for me with this console. I definitely wanna get Tearaway.

I have surprised myself this year with my embrace of digital games.  I still feel the need to have physical copies of console releases, but now I prefer digital on the handheld side.  It just makes sense to me nowadays.  I hate swapping out the cartridges and like having access to all of my games at once.

Nice.  Can't go wrong with money and gift cards. Money Mouth

Dont forget that there are lots of good PSP games on VITA too in case you missed out on those.

I have a bunch of PSP games but almost all are physical copies, so I can't play them on my Vita. I have several digital ones thanks to PS+ though. I wish Sony still offered PSP and PS1 games on PS+. It's a shame.

Merry late christmas Phil!

Man, everyone here and their dog has a Vita, except me. Oh well, enjoy the console.

Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too, Alex! I certainly was not expecting to get one, but the Vita is pretty sweet Smile

And thus the gamer was found with Vita in hand! Life can do that to you. Atleast you were able to score a portable in the process for hopeful gaming on the go when things get busy.

It has already proven very useful! I seem to be on a portable kick. I have games going on the Vita, 3DS, and PSP lol. By the way, did you ever finish watching RWBY? I realized a couple weeks ago that I hadn't...and still haven't, actually. I miss your episode recap blogs Frown

That I did. Sadly I stopped writing the recaps because of the final two episodes. Still debating if I should atleast finish the recaps. Let's just say the series doesn't give me much incentive to look forward to a season 2.

enjoy that Vita!

Well crud, now I'm worried. I really do need to go finish those...

I'll pick up a Vita at some point. Has a lot of the niche titles I like, and I wouldn't mind having my digital PSP games on it. I just got the gold Zelda 3DSXL myself and have been having a blast on it.

daftman

You can't go wrong with either one, though I'd choose the 3DS XL if I had to pick. Still, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to get it, especially since I have all those PS+ games.
