I still have a couple of days left to play Christmas Music

When Happy After Christmas Pixlbit! I’m probably writing this blog over the span of a couple of days. I have family over and when I have some quiet time, I’ll whip out the laptop and jot down a couple of paragraphs before one of the crazy cousins wants to do something fun.

Earlier tonight I watched the first half of my Aztecs beat down St. Katherine College. It was brutal because they’re an NAIA team, with a 34 year old player, and the school’s enrollment is just over 100 students. Pair that with #20 ranked SDSU squad, that has more students in their student section during the Holiday break than actually go to SKC. It was ugly but Coach Fisher wants to get the local schools around SD some face time on National TV, let them play at an actual Arena, and get them some pub. I think final score was 118-36 or something. The walk-ons, and a bunch of different player combinations were used.

So how was Christmas for you guys and gals? Anything good? Did Santa bring a bunch of cool stuff? Eat a bunch of food with friends and family? Don’t be shy, share with all of us good folks!

As for my end of the Pixlbit universe, I got to spend lots of time with the family, got some cool stuff, and I thought I’d share some of the highlights:

This is my contribution to the Christmas decorations this year.

I wanted to recreate the scene in the Avengers when Loki shows up in Germany, and Captain America, Ironman, and Black Widow took him down, but I was vetoed. Instead I wanted to do something just as cool, so why not Santa on the back of T-Rex with a light sabre? I threw in the Hulk too, but originally he was doing this

But nobody saw him.

For Christmas Day, it was quiet, with some family over to celebrate Christmas, eat some food (hello 1st Prime Rib) and I opened one gift from “Santa” (I bought it but I threw it under the tree, because it’s more fun this way)

The next day is when most of the family came over to do some good ol’ fashion eatin’! I bought a pig for the peeps, and Prime Rib #2 made an appearance. The little kids went nuts and the older folks filled their plates, told stories, and enjoyed everyone’s company. After everyone ate their weight (including the little kids) it was time to hand out presents, and see all the goodies everyone received from the chubby dude in red.

I like to think I was good and chubby dude hooked me up!

I got a Polo SDSU hoodie (it’s been “Instagrammed”, I needed to lighten up the black).

I have a new game for the Vita. I really liked the concept of this game, and I tried out the demo and felt it used all the features of the Vita in a much better way than Little Deviants.

One of my favorites…GIFT CARDS! Starbucks is cool because I get a couple of my coffee fueled milkshakes for free, added some funds to my XBox Marketplace to take advantage of the tons of sales going on right now, and I have an idea on what I’m going to put the Best Buy card towards. My younger cousins gave it to me and when they asked what I am going to buy, I told them I wanted this pack of gum there. They thought I was crazy and laughed.

Later on that day I had to make a grocery store run, so I naturally hit the Toys R Us first to see what kind of crazy is going on, and it was surprisingly quiet. I made my way to the electronics section and found that a bunch of games hit clearance. Too bad there were only one or two 360 games left, and all the PS3 games they had there I already owned, but I decided to pick these up

I don’t own a 3DS…yet, but they actually dropped a $1 on each, and there was a Buy 1 Get 1 40% off. Might as well start building a library for when I actually do get a 3DS XL.

I also picked up this one too. The only other games they had where really odd kids games so I didn’t get to pair this one.

Later on that night my youngest cousin wanted to play “XBox” which for some reason was a generic term for any video game. I plopped him down in front of Disney Infinity on the PS3 and dude was hooked. 3 hours went by before his siblings saw this and also became hooked. I turned the game into a G-Rated Call of Duty because we both ran around the toy box shooting paintballs at each other, or hunting the little Disney characters you can place in the game.

The only time Disney Infinity wasn’t played was during the UFC Fight. The one fight everyone in the house wanted to see was Rousey vs Tate

This was the first time since Pacquiao in his hayday did everyone in the house stop what they were doing, and sat down to watch. It was a hell of a card in which every fight leading up to the Co-Main Events ended with someone dropping or giving up. Hell of a fight night, but damn seeing Spider was brutal. (You can go Google it if you want, I saw enough live, and that slow mo replay they did).

So while the little ones were playing DI, my uncle actually got into the android games I got my cousins

This is a screen from my game. I’ll get back to playing these soon, but he really likes it.

I do like the period loading screen

I stumbled on another Temple Run like game, but this one you can connect to the PS3 game

I thought this was fun, it was a little slow, but I guess you can earn stuff in this game, and then sync it with the PS3 game. They might have it on iOS too, and if you own the PS3 game, give this a shot, it’s free!

Another game I got into was Red Bull Racing 3

Who knew there was a 1 and 2?

The game is a fun top down racer, kind of like RC Pro Am or Micro Machines. You have I think three laps and you drive over boost spots, and hit camera icons that earn you extra coins. The one thing I don’t care for is the small button on the bottom right of the screen that is used for your gas. Its too small, either make the gas automatic or get a bigger button.

There is a bit of coin grinding because you have to buy a better racer for each Cup Series, but it lets you play as long and as much as you want. You can still buy coins with real cash but that’s just crazy.

It’s a decent racer, and I’ll let you know how the other cups are when I unlock them.

I thought I already bought this game but it turns out I didn’t (it must have been on the iPad), so for .50 cents I now have it on my Nexus 7.

Simpsons Tapped Out did their Gill Specials again during the holiday

I still refuse to spend real money so I passed

As a community we did unlock the special holiday Mr. Burns.

I fired up Marvel’s Puzzle Quest to try and get the Hulk but instead I got…

It’s cool, but I really need to sell off some characters I don’t use.

And finally in the digital world of the iTunes Store and Google Play, there are tons of new freebies. Apple’s 12 Days After Christmas app has given some cool stuff from free music like JT’s performance at the iTunes Music Festival

to free movies and books. If you have an iDevice, download the app!

As for Google Play, they’re giving away Yeezus. Can’t go wrong with free music! Ok Pixlbit I think we shall end this blog here, but no worries, there is another blog coming soon to celebrate 2014!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

PS: Right as I uploaded my pics, we had a mini earthquake

I'm trying to beat the local radio station to playing this song after a little shaker

The earth moving is probably the least of your worries. It's the part when the sky comes tumbling down that'll really ruin your day. :D

Yup, you always look up right after you feel the Earth move under your feet. Tongue Out

Love those Christmas decorations! So cool!

My neice and nephew were playing a Temple Run type game, Despicable Me: Minion Rush. I watched them play it one on iPad and the other on iPhone. That game type is perfect for those touch systems.

Thanks! It's fun adding little randoms to the decorations to see if anyone notices.

I don't know if I tried that game. Heck I'm shocked my younger cousins didn't show me, but looks like I'm downloading it later to give it a try.

I have been bleeding Google Play dry with all the free music, and even got a free Elf movie from them, but I might need to download iTunes on my computer once again and see what I can get out of them. I should also find my old iTunes gift card, which may have something on it. Then there's the Steam sales. Man, I didn't think so much of my holiday would be spent shopping electronically!

Like you, I mostly relaxed and ate with family; I got a 360/PC controller, some money, and stocking stuffers for Christmas. I think they were right to deny you the Avengers scene, because that Santa on a dinosaur one looks awesome! By the way, I saw a trailer for The Winter Soldier when I saw Desolation of Smaug today, and it looks amazing. Love that Hulk ornament, too.

Nice gets on the gift cards, video games, and hoody, and that's cool your uncle and cousins are enjoying the games as well.

I dug the songs you posted, too. Hope you have a great New Year, Chris!

Oh man, there have been quite a few freebies being given out this year, it has been awesome! Digital shopping has made it way too easy this year, and I'm all for it!

Looks like you made out like a bandit as well. Food with the family and friends as well as some goodies is always a good thing!

Thanks! I hope you and the family also have a great and safe New Year!

Yep, Sunny Southern California, where everyone cares about the environment yet refuses to use public transportation. We do love our earthquakes
