It makes me smile to see AC:NL high on a lot of peoples lists. It is the Sienfeld of games. A game about nothing that has to be played to know what all the fuss is about.
I almost caved yesterday and started playing it again.

Show about nothing my ass, it was just Friends with older and more neurotic people. Of course, I do like the prospect of watching you Let's Play AC: NL and dubbing everyone with terrible impressions of Seinfeld characters. You should get on that, mothman. It would be a real hit on YouTube.
Anyway, I remember you (asrealasitgets) talking about playing Monster Hunter 3, and I believe Jason (PB&Jason) did a live stream of it, didn't he? Or he was planning on it.
I'm a bit surprised to see Call of Juarez and Disney Infinity there as well, considering some of the negative feedback I've read on both. Actually, maybe that was a different Call of Juarez, but I know goaztecs was a bit disappointed with Disney Infinity's execution. I'd be interested to hear why you liked those, to get some fresh perspective. I thought Disney Infinity was a cool concept, and I still remember one of the Juarez games being the cover for the first EGM mag I had received in the mail since the notorious and supposedly final Wolverine cover of theirs.
I've honestly never heard of Path of Exile, but I definitely heard a lot of talk about Etrian Odyssey at the beginning of the year, on here and from Jeremy Parish.
I've written many reviews about the benefits of avoiding negative feedback. Read my Ni No Kuni blog to see why. I wrote an impression on Call of Juarez during the summer. It is a stylish western themed shooter, more like arcade style shooter with a linear pace divided into chapters. It's nice and short and gets to the point, and it was on sale at the time. It was in short, really great.
As for Disney Infinity. It falls into the category of --you need to sit down and play with it to see if you like it or not. That was the case for me. The basic game set has 3 action figures and three playable movie worlds based on those figures. It is very basic platforming and item collecting more along the lines of Legos video games, except unlocking items in game lets you play with them in a sandbox level editor, which is also another draw of the game. I enjoy 3D platformers that don't really exist anymore, except for Mario 3D Land and Sly Cooper, so it's nice to have one based on Disney worlds. I also like the action figures and plan on buying more becuase they look rad. It's an expensive game to get into. It appeals to the Disney fan in me basically.
I think I did read your Ni No Kuni review. At least the one you posted for your countdown. I don't take negative feedback to heart, I just use reviews to determine if I want to spend any money on trying something I'm not entirely sure about. I also make sure I understand why something is rated a certain way. For instance, short, linear arcadey shooter sounds great to me, and if I saw a negative review of it decrying its lack of character customization and linearity, I'd still try it, cause it sounds like something I would enjoy.
As for Disney Infinity, that does sound like fun. I really wish Sly Cooper was on Steam. I miss those games.
I was dismissive about Infinity at first, but I've been playing the Pirates and Incredibles games, not so much the coop toybox. I particularly like the open world and platforming, it reminds me of Mario 64 or Spyro, Crash Bandicoot games. I only played with the toybox for a bit, but I'm still playing through the single player modes. It's fun. I want to buy more packs.
It was a good game, but with more focus it could have been great. It is a little like Zelda in that you have to find a special item/weapon to proceed to the next area, that and navigation your ship on the ocean. My only real issue with the game is that the Mission Log could have been better. As it is now, missions are just stacked on each other and you have to kind of guess what you want to do. It could use a mini map or world map. Incredibles would benefit from this as well. I think their main focus was on the Toy Box, and the solo levels were an afterthought-- I'm assuming.
Monster Hunter is NOT for everyone. It has a steep learning curve and you may miss out if you arent playing with othe people. You can however challenge yourself and if you are into collecting special gear and taking on bosses, then it is great for that. Someone described it as going camping. You prepare all the items before setting out, and you wait and search and hunt, then it's all you and the boss in fight to the death like the UFC!!!
I loved Gunslinger. I've been a fan of the series having played Call of Juarez and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood but Gunslinger really distilled the best of the series into a great arcade shooter that was a lot of fun. I still have to play their third game COJ: The Cartel.
