Xbox Live: Free Game is

2014 is almost upon us. With the new year comes another month of free Games with Gold titles for Xbox 360 owners. Last month we got an oldie-but-goodie retail title (Gears of War) and a decently-liked XBLA game: Shoot Many Robots. So what does Microsoft have in store for the New Year?

This month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will first getSleeping Dogs from Square Enix. Released in August 2012, this makes the newest retail title that the program has offered so far. Starting on January 16th, XBLA hit Lara Croft and the Guardian of Lightfrom Eidos/Square-Enix will be the next free game.Guardian of Light is the first and only Tomb Raider game with cooperative multiplayer, and a must-play if you haven’t already got it.

Damn shame my gold ran out a couple weeks ago. I'd almost renew it just for the free games.

I grabed Sleeping Dogs for free on PS+ and it was really good, I enjoyed playing it. If I ever have a PS3 again I def plan to redownload it. I def encourage anyone with a Gold account grab it!

Is Guardian of Light the sequel to the newest Tomb Raider, DLC for it, or did it come before the newest Tomb Raider? I still need to check how TR runs on my computer.

Guardian of Light came before the latest Tomb Raider and is a different kind of game altogether. In fact this is not a Tomb Raider game except for the fact that Lara Croft is in it.

I don't know how much I could get into co-op, but the comparison to working with a friend on Zelda does make it sound more appealing, as well as the whole competing for high scores thing. Sounds interesting.

Got this on PS+ and downloaded it again on X-Box but I also bought the two DLC packs. I think I might actually try and complete this game on the X-Box because I actually invested a couple of bucks on it.

For anyone who downloads this game, check the extras, there are a couple of freebie DLC.

Again thanks for the heads up. I always forget about X-Box's freebie games.
