Super Mario 3D World Review

Super Mario World 3D is a very good looking game with lots of imaginative levels to it. The music and graphics are, as usual, fantastic as well. Unfortunately there are some problems I have with the game that make it a lesser Mario game. The Multiplayer levels might be fun but I've only played the single player game.

The camera perspective, makes the game more difficult than it should be. There are times when you think you are right on top of a foe to stomp him but your depth perception is way off, so you miss. You're supposed to be able to adjust the cameras but most of the time all you get is a cameras icon with a "no" icon over it.

The movement is quite sluggish. It takes forever for Mario to realize you are trying to get him to dash before he moves his ass. This is especially frustrating when you have a level where Mario dies if you don't move fast enough. There are also times where you are trying to jump forward and Mario inexplicably stops mid-air and falls thus wasting a Mario. Even when they give you the white racoon suit, some of the levels are just way to frustrating through no fault of the player's own.

Overall, Super Mario 3D World is worth buying at a discount, but it doesn't deserve to be called a Wii U seller. It's not the most horrible game but one of the least Mario games I have ever played. Now professional critics are going to tell you have wonderful this game is but please keep in mind, professional video critics take bribes to give good reviews, so they can't be trusted.

I never thought it would be a Wii U seller, but when and if I get one I would buy it at a discount. The Wii U needs a really good JRPG to come to it ( not some HD FF game ), that is just my opinion.

Not all professional reviewers take bribes.

Play as Toad and you'll solve a lot of the control problems.

Super Mario 3D World is very good.  Worth owning if you have a Wii U.

Depth perception when jumping on things is a problem I always have with mario sunshine as well as galaxy.  I can't remember if it was a problem in mario 64, probably because I was still so blown away by it being 3D back then.

I played Mario 64 after everyone else was blown away by it, and I assure you, it has issues.

I've run into that jumping problem on 3D Land on the 3DS. From my experience it's more of a little bother, but that's terrible that it's hampering your enjoyment of the game.

I'm on World Seven and I love it.
