Hey guys.  This will be a bit short.  Currently, I'm battling gout.  I spanged my ankle at work Wed morning last week really bad.  I was back at work that week, Sat.  While working Sun., my foot started hurting.  I was in pain until I went to a doctor Tues. night.  My foot wasn't broken or anything, but I developed gout from the injury. Cry  I've been stuck in bed taking paid meds this whole week.  I don't have any game systems in my bedroom.  Can't really game much anyway because of the pain I'm in.  Sometimes it's hard to sleep too.  I'm feeling a little better now, so I'll probably hop to my gameroom and play something today. Smile

Games I'm Playing:

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS)

I really don't know if I like this game or night.  My biggest problem with the game are the controls.  With no 2nd analog to control the camera and Luigi being a slow bastard, battles are more difficult than they have to been.  A lot of people enjoyed this game, but it's just frustrating the hell out of me.  Year of Luigi my ass. Yell

Games I bought:

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (DS) - I enjoyed Awakening so much that I want to play another FE game.

Killer is Dead (360) - Got the collector's edition brand new for only $20! Cool

Ouya - I got a couple weeks ago.  I reason I wanted one is for the emulation.  I hadn't bought any games on it yet, but I've been playing arcade games quite a bit with my kids.  Also been using the XBMC app a lot for streaming videos from my pc.  I was tinkering with some of the Ouya's apps a bit before I hurt myself.

That's what I got now.  I wanted to do my 2013 purchases blog, but the pics I took came out lousy.  I want to retake them.  My plan was to do it by this weekend, but then I got hurt.  I really want to get out of this bed, so I'll work on that today.  Maybe I'll play some Mass Effect.

You guys take care of yourselves. Laughing

aw man that sucks.  I hope u feel better soon.  I didn't even know people still got gout.

I hope you can get into your game room and get in some gaming today to take your mind off it. Frown

I hope I never get this again.  My dad got it all the time.  He takes daily medicine for it.  I had it before but it usually hurt for a couple days.  I think I have it so bad now because I hurt my ankle so badly.  It was really swollen.  At least 4 times the size it usually is.  All the fluid left my ankle and went to the rest of my foot.  Now just the joints in my big toe hurts.  And it hurts like a mofo.  More than a few times I wanted to cry.  But I didn't. Laughing

That's too bad. My uncle and my older brother both have gout. Now that you know you have it, you know what you eat can make it flare up? Spinach, beans, red meat, asparagus and beer will all cause a gout flare up. Pure cherry juice or cherry pills will help prevent flare ups. Not sure how much you have looked into it yet, just thought I would pass along the info since I have been around it.

I want to get Killer is Dead when it hits the under $20 mark. Probably close to that now. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was released early and I kind of want to get that since I haven't played TR and I want another Playstation 4 game.

I hadn't pick up TR either.  Maybe I should get the new version.

I thought I would love it.  I really enjoyed the GC game.

I got frustrated with Luigi's Mansion too. The controls were a little awkward, but not terrible. I loved the graphics in the game and the gameplay in general though. I have to figure out how to beat those ghosts that hold pans up as shields.

Those shovel ghosts are a pain when 3 attack you at the same time in a small space.

That's the exact situation that halted my progress and led me to put the game down for a while.

Hope you get better soon! I hear you on frustrating camera controls. Never try to control a 3D PC game using a laptop track pad. It does not work well.

Thanks for the heads up. Laughing

My job is not hard and my workdays aren't everyday.  On top of that, I have work ethic.

Get well soon!

Since you're not feeling well, I'll go easy on you for not liking Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.  I loved it, especially the ghost dog.

The ghost dog is great. Cool

Take care of yourself! that's why I like to have a portable nearby if I happen to be laid up for awhile.

So Year of Luigi is a flop? I sadly have missed out :(

I have my 3DS, but I don't play it for long.  I put some many hours into it playing Shin Megami Tensei IV, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and Fire Emblem: Awakening that I'm kind of burnt out on the 3DS.  I'm slowing playing through Luigi's Mansion.  It's been weeks.  I should of finished it by now.

I think this is the shortest one of these blogs I've ever seen from you lol. Hope you get back up to speed soon!

jgusw

It was almost shorter than this.  I squeezed in a few words toward the end.

Get better James. I'm working on Etrian Odyssey IV and Prof. Layton Miracle Mask on 3DS right now.

I want to play Luigi again. I didn't get very far the first time and then my son took it and I forgot about it. He's finished with the new Zelda now too so I have that to play at some point.

jgusw

01/27/2014 at 10:28 PM

I got to start getting those Etrian Odyssey games.

A Link Between Worlds is great.  Luigi's Mansion, no so much in my opinion, but a lot of people enjoyed playing it.

Dang dude, get better.

I've been told by a couple of folks that Luigi's Mansion is worth trying out. The camera thing sounds like it could bother me.

Good stuff on the pickups, and how are the emulators for the Ouya? I'm starting to get back into wanting an Ouya after watching a couple of vids to get the Google Play Store (and my games) on there.

jgusw

01/27/2014 at 10:21 PM

The camera is bad but Luigi's slow clumsy ass is worse.  Controlling can be a nightmare.

The emulators are pretty good.  I've been using MAME mostly.  There are the usual emulators for the NES, SNES, GEN, SMS, N64, and PS.  I hadn't gotten around to playing with them all yet.  The Ouya is worth it for the emulators alone for me.  I can easily play them on my hdtvs.  The Ouya can only play with a hdmi connection.

Oh nice, I have a MAME on a desktop hooked up to my TV, but for the form factor alone, as well as playing Android games, I might be in the market for an Ouya...again.
