Last Minute Gaming Christmas Gifts!

JasonBlogLast year at PixlBIt, I wrote up a quick last-minute gift guide. You may have seen it. If you didn't, just click here.

But there's a problem. See, last year's last-minute gift guide was comprehensive enough that I can't really say any more than what I said then. Except for this: You probably shouldn't give people Nintendo Points, but rather a 3DS gift card. There's really not all that much interesting coming out on the Wii in the shop channel, so those with extra Nintendo points may struggle to, I don't know, find something to buy this upcoming year. With the 3DS eShop, both DSiWare and exclusives to the 3DS are available for Nintendo's magical money cards that don't say points, but rather have a dollar value on them. If the person you're giving to has a 3DS and a Wii, choose the card that says "3DS" on it! They're not cross compatible like those DSi and Wii cards were.

Other than that, does anyone else have some kind of exceptional late gift idea? Perhaps one of those super game bundles where you buy a ton of copies of a game on steam? Maybe? I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

Fortune Street is a great game for holiday get-togethers. I know the review just went live, but I strongly suggest it if you like stuff like Monopoly. It's truly a digital board game, unlike stuff like Mario Party and Dokapon Kingdom.

Really? Isn't Fortune Street a huge mashup of several video game franchises? And its actually fun?

Damn, maybe I should give it a try....

It's more like a game of monopoly where the pieces and street names are based on video game franchises. The point is, it's all still monopoly, but the themes add a little bit extra to it. I don't think "Mash-up" really fits it, given that.
