I've always like Gorillaz and Damon Albarn in general. I only ever bought Plastic Beach and Parklife though.

So this will be the first in a series of BaD blogs I'm going to write about my favorite albums. I've been mulling over the order of which to put them in, but I realized that I love all of them equally, so this list won't be in any particular order. Keep in mind these albums aren't neccesarily the best albums I've heard, but they are ones that I enjoy the most and listen to frequently. Here goes:
Gorillaz - Demon Days (2005)
The Gorillaz are an... interesting group to say the least. They are the brainchild of Damon Albarn, frontman of Blur, and Jamie Hewlett, artist of Tank Girl, and they are the word's first 'virtual band'. What does that mean exactly? Well, technically the music is made by Albarn and a few collabortors, but if you let yourself believe, the band members are (clockwise from top right) 2D, Russel Hobbs, Noodle, and Murdoc Niccals, almost like Alvin and the Chipmunks.
The one thing I absolutely LOVE about this group is how well they mix genres of music. They are primarily a hip-hop group, but they take influences from all sorts of other genres like alternative, reggae, pop, and electronic. One song has a gospel choir in it. You may think that it just ends up like a disjointed mishmash of music that doesn't fit, but it works so well.
This album in particular has a sort of "save the world through not using up natural resources" theme going on it. It's almost like you're listening to a story. The first time I had heard this album all the way through, I was on the train from London to Paris, watching the French and English countryside go by and I think that was the perfect background for it.
Here are some of my favorite songs off this album:
Overall I think this album is great. It does slow down a bit in the middle (All Alone, El Manana) but The rest of it holds up very well. I would rate it a 4/5.
