Alright guys, I think I'm going to get in on this big BaD action. However, I'm going to do something a bit different. Since I just dropped the forums out there, I'm going to be doing a bit of shameless cross-promotion. In addition to a general update of what's going on in my day-to-day, I'm going to create and link to a new forum thread. Hopefully it'll get a few faces into the brand new area of the site, experimenting with something new!
So, today's thread is featured in the General Gaming forum: The Last of Us.
Last night Chessa and I got a much needed break from our kids to celebrate our 11th anniversary (of being together, not marriage) and got a night out on the town. The little guys spent the night at my Mom's house and we went out for a nice dinner. Unfortunately, the wait at the restaurant was an hour so we needed to kill some time before having a bite. Thankfully, there was a Gamestop in close proximity so we stopped in and browsed.
We walked out with a pretty nice haul, which included Gears of War 2 for a buck, Tornado Outbreak (360) for $3, and Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii) for $3 as well. Additionally, The Last of Us was on sale for $35, so we took the plunge.
After enjoying a great meal and bottle of wine, we headed home and got a good bit of time in with The Last of Us. I detailed some of the experience in the forum thread linked above, so be sure to check it out for more information.
The night wrapped with a leisurely 1:30AM drive around the area, which was a tradition of ours before the kids came into the picture. It was nice to drive and talk and enjoy the area well after most people went to bed.
Hope all you guys had a nice weekend, catch you tomorrow!
The Last of Us: Great game. LOTS of problems. Why do Naughty Dog seem to get away with more than your average company? The Uncharted Series had the worst combat I've seen in a modern triple a game, and the platforming was even worse. So why does every one love it? The set pieces? The cutscenes? They're cool, but there's this thing called movies that do that shit better.
The Last of Us?!?! Ewww. I'll avoid that thread thank you, but great idea for BaD postings, nothing wrong with product promotions, now product placement on the other hand.
It's great to be able to browse a game store before a evening meal with the one you love. I usually have to do it in reverse for the food place don't like us bringing in our games at the table...
