Hey everyone,

It’s great to see so many BaD write-ups already. Combining BaD with the new forums equate to Shane doing very little work this month Tongue Out While I’m not committing to BaD, I will try and blog a bit more frequently. I do enjoy it.

Anyway, this weekend I spent a lot of time working my way through Knights of the Old Republic 2 on the PC. About 10 hours to give a figure. Great, great game and I think I’ll do a review of sorts once I complete it (should be this week hopefully). I am completely lost in its characters and intricate story; all wonderfully developed.

Other than KOTOR2, I progressed a little further in Guacamelee which I’m also really enjoying. I’ll probably wrap this up shortly after I finish with KOTOR2 (will possibly do a short writeup).

Looking at my steam library, I think the next major time sink I’ll invest in is going to be Jade Empire. I played this briefly at a friend’s house when it was initially released on Xbox and it seemed interesting from what I remember.

Jade Empire

"ONLY ON XBOX" So much for that...

I’ll probably play some Civ V too before starting (might start a new campaign) as I’m getting an itch for that.

Finally, I’ve been considering replaying Asura’s Wrath to go along with the current Backloggers Anonymous podcasts which have been really enjoyable. If only there were more hours in the day! Maybe someday. Ugh.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Later

Jade Empire is a great game. Worth playing just for its world, so unique.

Yeah i'm looking forward to it. I remember it being similar in gameplay to KOTOR and the fact that it's a Bioware game makes it hard to lose

Seeing that 'only on Xbox' stamp reminds me of the box for Resident Evil 4. No RE4, you are not 'only for' GameCube, at least not anymore.

Yeah, makes it look dated now. I'm glad these exclusive third party games are generally "timed"

I never finished Jade Empire on the 360 and I had that sucker preordered. I loved what I played but the battle system took a lot of getting used to for an old button masher like me.

I think I managed about 20 hours but I was nowhere near the end. Then I read somewhere that the game was only supposed to last 20 hours. That's when I got discouraged and quit.

According to howlongtobeat, the main game takes 15 and a half hours, completionist at 29 hours. I'll probably go over that aswell. I generally rather turn based combat so this type of games suits me down to the ground.

That's a blast from the past. EGM was all over Jade Empire when it released.

I remember my neighbour making such a big deal of it before release. I didn't follow EGM but i'm not surprised. It's strange you don't generally hear Jade Empire coming up more often when people discuss Bioware. It seems to be well liked by most.

Oh Jade Empire...loved that game, almost finished it until my first X-Box died.

Good to hear. Hopefully it drags me in like KOTOR2 has.

EDIT: your Xbox dying is not good obviously Laughing

Tried it on Xbox. Didn't get very far in it. Something about the combat frustrated me if I remember right. I still have it though. Want to replay it someday. Fantastic world in that game. Very beautiful graphics too.

I think the combat is similar to KOTOR so it's right down my alley. I can see people getting frustrated with it though. It's not quite turn based, not quite button mashing

Jade Empire is really unique of a game. I really like the how the setting is not the typical European Fantasy Esk fair. How is KOTOR 2? How does it compare to the first one. I was a big fan, and KOTOR was my first Xbox game so it means a lot to me and I had a blast with it.

I really enjoyed KOTOR 1 but with the change from Bioware to Obsidian, I wasn't sure what to expect. KOTOR2 is great. No other way to put it if you enjoy the combat style which is basicly the same as the original. The story is really interesting, full on intrigue and plot twists. Honestly, one of my favourite Star Wars stories full stop. Highly recommended.

Tough luck that Jade Empire is only on Xbox. I don't recall hearing about it being on PC but I don't Pc much anyway. that reminds me, I need to try and play that again sometime. Didn't get far but it wasn't that BaD. (see what I did there....)

...I'm sorry.

It's actually on Steam now which is great. I think I got it for like $5 a few months back. I might start it up this weekend.
