It's 10:16 PM on Belgian time, so let's kick off my second day of BaD and say my thoughts on a recently read book (Warning, spoilers. They'll be marked.)

Much like the first two books of A Song of Ice and Fire (or Game of Thrones for the ones who follow the TV show), I really liked this entry and I was addicted to from beggining to end. That said, I got a spoiled early on the Red Wedding, so even if I found the event impresive, I didn't had that big of an impact when Robb and Catelyn died. The same happened with Joffrey's death. I also thought the death of Twyin was badly handled. Seriously, for someone who was one of the smartess characters in the series, he acted very stupid when Tyrion had the crossbow pointing at him. That said, I didn't expect the resurrection of Catelyn Stark. I was in awe when that happened.

Other than that, it's still a great read. The story is coming along very nicely and with many things happening, I can't wait to see what happens in the future and what plot twist comes next. The characters are still great and the grey morality is interesting as always.

Honestly, I don't have much to say, except that I just started A Feast of Crows and it will be my current reading for the next days.

I feel like I said too much already... but I'm glad your enjoying it Alex. I need to start reading again. Sometimes I have to be motivated or force myself. It's taking me FOREVER to finish this Star Wars book.

Thanks, and I hope you didn't mind yesterday's comment. If you feel that you need to get motivated to read, I would recommend to read one of your favorite novels and if you feel the urge to keep continuing, i'm sure you'll finish the Star Wars book in no time.

I just finished A Feast for Crows and I liked it, so whenever you do that one I'll look forward to what you think. As for A Storm of Swords I really liked the death of Tywin, I'm just wondering how they'll handle that on the TV show, if they do it at all. The ending threw me for a curveball, it gets even weirder with that character in the next book.

Storm of Swords was by far the most painful and difficult book in the series to read so far, all my favorite characters were either killed or being treated poorly. Feast for Crows isn't nearly as much of a downer, it's pretty interesting, cleanses some of that pain, and moves along some characters nicely.

I don't know man, I felt like Martin didn't do very well the death of that character. Hopefully, the show can improve the way he dies. But I do agree that zombi Catelyn threw me off guard. I really wasn't expecting that.

Yeah, Storm of Swords was a sad read by the fact that the main characters suffered a lot, and though some got a good resolution (Jon and Davos for example), others weren't so lucky and the events that happened will probably leave them mental scars. So far, I like that in A Feast of Crows we returned to the Iron Islands and we will get chapters in the often refered but never visited Dorne.

I may try reading the series again. First I need to finish Under the Dome and it's massive.

What is Under the Dome about?

It's a Stephen King book about a town that gets cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible dome.

I only started reading it because they made a TV show out of it and while I was interested in the mystery the acting on the show is so bad for the most part that I really don't want to watch it anymore.

As with a lot of his best work it gets deep into the characters lives and their pasts. So you have a main supernatural theme with a lot of side stories going on. Some have said it's his best book since The Stand but you either like King or you don't.

the book is over 1000 pages long so it's a big commitment too. I think I'm around 150 right now.

Not a big fantasy guy, so Game of Thrones just put me to sleep. Also

Okay, that was pretty funny.

Anyway, yeah I know you aren't a fan of traditional fantasy, though to tell you the true, A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones isn't really the typical fantasy stuff, and except for dragons, some magic and some other things, it's a bit more grounded in reality and it's all filled with grey morality.

^I'm a big butt guy, so I'm curious about GoT. Also, Alex, black bars in a GoT blog? I see what you did there.

Well, I had only watched the first season of Game of Thrones and there wasn't much butt in it. Not sure about the following seasons. Also, what do you mean about the black bars?

You censored a lot of stuff in your blog (the spoilers) with black bars, and since American television often censors nudity with black bars, if GoT were on a network station instead of HBO, there'd be a lot of black bars. It wasn't a good joke, but there it is.

Yeah, it was hard to understand.

I probably need to read this to see if I'd be interested in the TV show. So far the show doesn't really interest me, moreso given the talk of some explicit actions done in the show. But it's HBO so that should be expected.

Yeah, it's a better idea to read the book first before going for the TV show. That said, once you read the first book and the rest of the saga, the first season of the show gets interesting to watch and it expands on some parts not covered in the book. I don't know what you mean by explicit actions though.
