Bummer these are all mobile games. No way to play them for me :( That Rapid Rescue game looks like fun, too.

Happy Thursday Pixlbit! Today is the last day of Lego Week because tomorrow I am going to go to my normal Quick Hits format (or maybe just pickups, I’m not quite sure just yet) but to celebrate the final day of Lego Week I wanted to cover four Android games that don’t get the spotlight but are decent games that use the Lego Universe. The best part of these games is that they could be played on your favorite tablet or phone, and they are free. Sound good?
Legends of Chima: Speedorz
To promote the Legends of Chima line, Lego released a racing adventure game where as the player you can customize your character and his vehicle to take on different characters. As you progress you unlock new characters to battle
Throughout the game’s environments you can collect Lego studs, which are used as in game currency to unlock upgraded vehicles. Also as you progress you can unlock different options to further customize your character
The game is screen is easy to navigate. You have your boost on the top right corner, your controls on the bottom corners, collected Lego studs on the top left corner, and your time and race position on the top. Chima could have benefited from having tilt controls that are seen in many racing games. Early in the gameplay I found myself turning my tablet in hopes of controlling my character out habit.
If you are a fan of the Chima line, give this game a try.
Lego City Rapid Rescue
Lego released a line of Coast Guard theme toys called Rapid Rescue, and to promote this line they also released a game that is similar to the setup to Angry Birds, but instead of trying to destroy objects, your goal is to draw a path to various minifigures who are in danger.
The level select screen is straight forward, with big icons and a 3 star rating system
The level design is simple, yet showcases the sets within the Rapid Rescue line. The backgrounds would look similar to ones that could be used for the actual toys. When playing this game I found it a bit challenging in some levels, especially for a game geared towards children. I do like that it is a quick casual game, where the controls are simple, the graphics are vibrant, and it involves Lego.
Lego Hero Factory Brain Attack
This line of Lego products I am not familiar with. I don’t collect them so I can offer much information about it, but this game looks like it is geared toward older kids with some familiar gameplay.
You start with two characters that you can upgrade and customize later in the game after acquiring in game currency.
Just like many Lego games, the main Level Select screen is straight forward where you unlock new levels by completing the previous levels.
The sub Level Select is also straight-forward. Once you complete a mission, another mission is unlock. There is a lot to do in this game!
The game screen is a top down view with on screen controls. The bottom left corner is your movement “nub” while the bottom right is your shoot button. Your character’s life bar is top left while your partner’s life bar is top right. Notifications are on top and your extras like sprint, and weapon swap are on the bottom.
This game take a little more time to play than Rapid Rescue, but for fans of this product line, they will enjoy seeing their figures come to life.
The final game I actually talked about before in a previous blog but I felt it was worth mentioning especially after playing Lego Microfighters
Lego Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles
I decided to give this game another try, and I can’t remember if I loved/hated it because it wasn’t on my tablet. Could have been a space issue, or I thought it wasn’t very good.
Just like many Lego Star Wars games you are prompted to choose a side, this changes the characters in game, music, and colors for your main screens.
Each level has a set of goals to achieve. Replaying levels and honing your skills can accomplish these goals. As you can tell I took my time and didn’t meet Admiral Ackbar because I was blowing stuff up to earn Lego Studs *IT’S A TRAP!*
Mission select is also straightforward; with finishing one mission unlocks a new mission.
The controls for this game are more like Rapid Rescue than Hero Factory, because it is all by touch. The user touches an area on the screen to move the vehicle and touches the enemy’s location for them to be shot at. Gameplay is a bit slower because of this, but it isn’t too bad. Because of the touch controls the gameplay screen isn’t littered with controls and other random notifications.
Lego Chronicles and Hero Factory use the Lego ID feature. This combines the use of the user’s Lego ID, which I think is used on the Lego store website, to save your progress and can be used on multiple devices.
Well Pixlbit, thank you for letting me talk about Lego this week in Blog A Day. Much Appreciated!
That’s all for now, more later!
